I know Saturday is 60's era for businesses. I would just like to say Patterson Pharmacy was started by my late father in 1966 in the old Leeds hospital clinic building. We are celebrating our 60th Anniversary this month. We moved to our current site in 1978. My father loved this community and all his customers . He and my mother put their life into that pharmacy. My mother was second technician licensed in state of Alabama. As far as I know we are third oldest existing continuous business in Leeds and the oldest pharmacy. My dad worked until he was 92 and my mother still works in her 80's. I have worked as pharmacist for over 35 years . We have truly seen a lot of changes and I can remember most businesses in Leeds from the 60's forward . I want to thank the community for supporting us for 60 years and hope when we decide what we are going to do for our 60 year celebration that people will help us celebrate. I hope for ones that can remember my dad they can remember how special this community was for him and have a fond remembrance of his willingness to help people. I hope we can always project the image that are customers are friend and family and Leeds is our home. Remember when we started there were no computers in pharmacy, nobody had been to moon, schools were not integrated, Leeds had hospital, no interstate highways , cruising in car was big. Nuclear strikes practiced under desk. I can remember interstate being built, my kindergarten and a field where grocery store is, Sinclair station and the hospital, plus Parker's , Brookwood clinic, plus a quick mart service station all within 500 yards of store. My dads store at time wasn't even 1000 square feet but he loved it.
