Anxiety and depression often go together like peanut butter and jelly or pancakes and butter. A person with chronic untreated anxiety may develop depressive symptoms and vice versa. They have overlapping symptoms and can irritate the other...just like good friends. Be aware of the emotional, physical, and behavioral similarities.

We carry all parts of ourselves all our lives, the 3 year old fears, the 13 year old insecurities, and the adult wisdom. Internal family systems, or IFS, is a type of therapy that believes we are all made up of several parts or sub-personalities. These essential parts of us are a variety of ego states learned through different developmental stages that live with us all our lives. These parts take on different roles to protect us. Parts fall into three common categories including "Fire Fighters" "Manager" and Exiles". Pt will deep dive into understanding these different parts. There are no bad parts within us so it is crucial to befriend all aspects of the self to heal.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT is a form of 'talking and doing' therapy. It focuses mainly on the problems facing you at the present time. We look at the past enough to understand how your current patterns of thinking and behavior came about to start with. The doing part of CBT is challenging negative thinking styles and creating new helpful ways to both think and behavior to unwanted situations.
