📚 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵: 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹

What if the way we love others begins with how gently we learn to hold ourselves?

This month’s selection, recommended by our therapist Ashley Aguirre, M.A., Resident in Counseling, is a soft invitation to slow down, reflect, and reconnect—with your inner world and the relationships that matter most.

Some seasons call for growth. Others call for healing. And sometimes, they ask for both at once.

If you’ve been craving deeper connection, more compassion, or simply a moment to pause and realign, this is a beautiful place to begin.

𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗳 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵.

Inclusion often starts with something simple—
how we communicate.

Communication shapes how we connect,
how we participate,
and whether we feel a sense of belonging.

For many Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals,
access to communication and inclusive environments
can shape everyday experiences in meaningful ways.

And often, it’s not about big changes.

𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹, 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀:
• asking about communication preferences
• using captions when possible
• being mindful of accessibility
• staying open to learning

In clinical spaces, this can also mean creating environments where people can communicate in ways that feel natural and accessible to them.

Because inclusion isn’t just about awareness—
it’s about making space for people to fully participate.

It was a valuable opportunity to connect with leaders in public safety, healthcare, and behavioral health, and discuss the critical need for supporting the mental health and wellness of our first responders.

We heard from an incredible lineup of speakers, including Dr. Donald Stewart, Dr. Anita Gadhia-Smith, Vera St. Hill, Diana Benjamin-Rodriguez, and Brian Edmonston. Their insights were invaluable in driving forward the conversation on mental health and wellness within our community.

A special thank you to Luke, Ryan, and Jessica from Novara for inviting us and organizing such an impactful event. We look forward to continuing these important conversations and collaborations.

Vaisakhi marks an important time in Sikh tradition, including the founding of the Khalsa, and is also celebrated as a harvest festival in parts of India. It’s a time often associated with renewal, community, and shared joy.

For many, days like this carry a deeper sense of connection—to culture, to identity, and to traditions that bring people together across generations.

They can also offer a meaningful pause—a chance to reflect on growth, resilience, and what we’re carrying forward into the next season of life.

Wishing you peace, joy, and moments of connection that feel meaningful to you.

𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙏𝙪𝙧𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙏𝙖𝙡𝙠 is more than a documentary—it’s a voice for teens, a call for understanding, and a step toward stronger community support. 💬

This is more than just a screening—it’s a chance to come together as a community, listen with intention, and be part of a conversation that truly matters.

𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵.

We share this with care, recognizing that conversations about childhood experiences can be personal and may affect people in different ways.

Prevention is often thought of as something distant—but in many ways, it starts with the environments around us. Support for caregivers, access to resources, and strong, connected communities all play a role in helping children feel safe, seen, and supported.

Research shows that early experiences can shape long-term mental and physical health. At the same time, safe and supportive relationships can be a powerful source of resilience.

For some, this topic may connect to personal experiences. There is no expectation to engage in any particular way—only to take in what feels manageable.

At its core, this month is a reminder of something simple but important: 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯—a𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘥𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦—b𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘦𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦, 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘥, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳.

Screenings are often misunderstood—they’re not about labeling or diagnosing on the spot.

They’re tools for awareness.

Because alcohol is so normalized in many environments, patterns can develop gradually without much reflection. A quick check-in can offer clarity before things become overwhelming.

Support doesn’t have to start at a breaking point.

Sometimes it starts with a simple question:

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆 🌎

Health is often thought of as physical—but it also includes mental, emotional, and social well-being. In fact, the World Health Organization defines health as a state of overall well-being, not just the absence of illness.

That means feeling connected, supported, and able to navigate life’s challenges is just as important as physical care.

The encouraging part?
Well-being isn’t built all at once—it’s shaped through small, consistent moments.

Getting enough rest.
Having meaningful conversations.
Taking a break when you need it.
Asking for support.

These things matter more than we sometimes give them credit for.

Health doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful. It can be something you build, adjust, and return to—again and again.

Thank you to everyone who joined us—not only to learn about AcuWellness, but to experience it firsthand. Through this interactive session, participants were able to engage directly with acupuncture-based techniques designed to support stress reduction, emotional balance, and overall well-being.

AcuWellness offers a unique, holistic approach to regulating the nervous system and promoting natural healing, and it was incredible to see our community come together to try these techniques in real time.

We’re incredibly grateful to Ken Kirk for leading such a calming and impactful experience, and to Insight Recovery for their continued partnership in bringing these meaningful wellness opportunities to our community.
