Origami Flower Making Club at Reflections! 🌸✨

At Reflections Senior Living, creativity blooms in so many ways! Today our residents came together for our Origami Flower Making Club, folding colorful paper into beautiful blossoms.

Not only did we create gorgeous flowers, but we also shared laughter, stories, and the joy of learning something new together. Origami is a wonderful way to relax, stimulate the mind, and brighten up our community with handmade beauty.

Here at Reflections, there’s always something meaningful to do—where every fold leads to friendship, and every flower blooms with love. 😊

🎶 Today at Reflections Senior Living, we celebrated Cora Mapp Gaines of Camden, NJ — the legendary Philadelphia lyric soprano featured as a “One-Woman Choir” in EBONY Magazine (Jan 1961) who had the honor of singing for Queen Elizabeth!

Cora is also the beloved grandmother of Briyani Gaines, our Life Enrichment Director, whose passion for sharing history and creating joyful experiences keeps her grandmother’s legacy alive.

Residents explored a treasured instrument shared by Cora Gaines, connecting past and present through music, memories, and pure joy. With excitement we were able to enjoy the instrument of Cora Gaines xylophone that she has passed down to her family. 🎼

Originally from Fairfax, Virginia and now living in Washington, D.C., Melanie has been playing since she was just nine years old. She travels all across the DMV, sharing her gift through soulful, cheerful, country, and a variety of musical genres that truly speak to the heart.

Our residents were captivated by the beauty of her music, and the joy she brought to the room was simply unforgettable. Thank you, Melanie, for filling our home with such warmth, harmony, and happiness. 😊

Today at Reflections Senior Living, our residents dove into the colorful world of Alma Thomas—a trailblazing African American artist and teacher whose bold, abstract paintings were filled with joy, color, and movement.

Thomas, who didn’t begin her professional art career until she was in her 60s, proved that it’s never too late to follow your passion. Her signature style—bright mosaic-like patterns inspired by nature—sparked our own creativity today.

Residents explored vibrant palettes and playful shapes, creating unique interpretations of her famous works. The room was full of laughter, storytelling, and the kind of joyful energy Alma herself poured into every painting.

We’re so proud of these gallery-worthy creations that now brighten our community! 😊
