We are devastated to share the news that on December 30, we bade farewell to sweet Caz. Veterinary findings indicated recurrence of profuse bleeding in his chest (likely due to lymphosarcoma), for which there is no treatment, so we made the wrenching decision to end his suffering through humane euthanasia.

Caz was a gifted healer and a gentle spirit, and he made an indelible impact on everyone with whom he interacted. His quiet attunement and engagement offered survivors of trauma the profound experience of being seen, heard, and understood. His big, bouncy gaits and his extensive training helped his riders to build skills, self-efficacy, and self-confidence. One neurodivergent teen with whom Caz worked commented: "How did you find a horse who is exactly like me, who tries to meet everyone's expectations and do things perfectly so he can be ok?" Caz both gave and received the gift of belonging, of knowing that we are enough, exactly as we are.

Deepest thanks to all of you for helping us to provide Caz with a place of ease and kindness during his three years with the program. He will be missed more than we can express, and we look forward to carrying on his healing legacy as we move into 2026.
