Our program consists of two phases or levels of residential ministry. Phase I - Sixteen (16) weeks during which the client learns the 12 Steps of recovery in their Christian context. Clients who have not completed High School or a GED attend GED classes with the goal of obtaining their GED to increase their potential for successful living and to help them with future employment opportunities. PHASE I clients attend daily Bible Studies or Chapel opportunities, 12-Step classes and meetings, as well as classes on personal money and credit management and other classes designed to enhance their life-skills. Daily work assignments are also carried out in facility and grounds cleaning and maintenance and our on-site garden. Clients also provide labor to area churches and other non-profit agencies as they learn the importance of giving back. Other than the costs to the applicant for the required pre-admission blood-work and screenings and a $40 Admission Processing Fee, Phase I is provided at no cost to the client thanks to the generous donations of many individuals, businesses, churches, other agencies and foundations who believe in the work of The Anchorage. The actuAnchorage is approximately $485 per month per man. PHASE II - Clients al cost to operate The who compete Phase I may apply for Phase II "Aftercare." This is a six-month opportunity for them to continue in the "safe" environment of The Anchorage while they begin to put their new life into action through responsible employment. During this time the aftercare participant is expected to find employment and to begin to handle more obligations and responsibility. While not working at an outside job, aftercare participants attend campus Bible Studies and Chapels and 12-Step groups and meetings, both in-house and community-based. Aftercare participants pay a participation fee on a sliding-scale, based on a percentage of their income with a maximum amount due that is less than the actual cost for them to stay. This gives the aftercare participant the opportunity to begin to pay other obligations and/or save money to help them re-establish their life outside when they leave The Anchorage.
