Over two decades ago, while serving as a minister of the staff at a church in Georgia, Tony Hoffman, Executive Director, first encountered the Christian Care Center. At the time, his church was exploring the idea of launching a food pantry ministry, and they were seeking wisdom and guidance. That search led them to Leesburg, where they sent a team to learn from the Christian Care Center’s Benevolence ministry. Lately, a beautiful trend has emerged at the Samaritan Inn. Over the past few months, I’ve received photos of keys—not just any keys, but the keys to new homes and fresh starts. These images symbolize success, marking the end of a journey filled with faith, perseverance, and daily commitment to growth.

My name is Shannon, and I’d like to share my story.
A friend told me about the Benevolence Center during one of the most difficult times in my life. I had just experienced a full retinal detachment in my left eye and a partial detachment with tears in my right eye. When I arrived at the Center, a kind gentleman asked how he could pray for me. I shared what was happening, and he directed me to the Community Medical Center. That’s where I learned the full extent of my condition.

"Six years ago, in July 2019, I surrendered my life to the Lord while in the Men’s Residence program at the Christian Care Center. Just a month later, I was baptized at the church’s outdoor baptism service—a moment that marked the beginning of a new life in Christ. Since then, God has transformed my life, guiding me through the program, opening doors to preach, and leading me to graduate from The Baptist University of Florida with a degree in Ministry Studies. Today, I serve as Assistant Director at the very place where God first rescued me. On August 11th, I experienced a full-circle moment..." Read the rest of Bud's story here:

"Michelle" came into the pregnancy center back in January, grappling with the reality of an unexpected pregnancy. She had an 8-year-old son and had recently separated from her husband, making the news of her pregnancy even more shocking. Initially, she was determined to have an abortion and was upset upon discovering that our center was not an abortion clinic, as she had assumed.

The ladies from the Village Park Singles Group have been intentional about spending time with our ladies. They visited recently by sharing a powerful video testimony, by demonstrating how to have a strong foundation in Christ, and by having sweet conversation and fellowship. Our Samaritan Inn children are always excited when their furry friends, Dixie and Bella, come to visit. Two of our Samaritan Inn volunteers, Ann and Marvin, bring their therapy dogs to play with the kids. The Samaritan Inn children have even spent some time reading to both of their furry friends.
Dixie is a medium-sized and quite rambunctious dog, while Bella is just the opposite- a tiny and quiet pup. It is fun to see how the kids, also with different personalities, will relate to both Dixie and Bella. We are very thankful for each visit and the time spent not only with the furry friends, but also with Ann and Marvin.
There are many ways someone can serve our families by showing them that extra special care and love. If you would like to explore an opportunity to volunteer, please contact Kathys@christiancarecenter.org or Daryl@christiancarecenter.org

About Us

The Christian Care Center is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation. It was founded in 1985 by the membership of First Baptist Church of Leesburg, Florida. but is now a community effort of “Meeting Needs and Sharing Christ” in Leesburg, Lake County and surrounding areas. The church owns the property and leases it to the CCC each year where it is operated as a separate corporation.

First Baptist’s continued partnership has been invaluable for the Christian Care Center, providing a steady stream of volunteers, donors, people who are willing to give clients a job or to rent housing to them once they complete the program and in many other ways. However, the legal and physical distinction between the church and the CCC has been helpful in many ways over the years as the CCC is committed to bringing all areas of our community together to help those in need. We bring together local businesses, churches, schools, government agencies, law enforcement officials and civic organizations to make a large impact in our community.

Our founder is Dr. Charles Roesel. Dr. Roesel is Pastor Emeritus of First Baptist Church Leesburg. More than 7,000 people were baptized during his 29 years there. Before that, he was pastor of two other churches in Florida. Today, he serves as a Presidential Ambassador for the North American Mission Board and preaches and teaches all over the world. His signature contribution to Southern Baptist life was the concept of Ministry Evangelism. In short, he encourages people to take seriously Jesus’ commands in Matthew 25:31-46. That passion led his people to start more than 70 ministries at FBC Leesburg and continues to inspire church leaders to reach out to the poor in Jesus’ name. When he is not traveling to a speaking engagement, Pastor Charles lives on a ranch outside Bushnell, Florida with his wife, Edna Sue.
