I see it all the time.

Someone comes in put together, handling work, family, everything. And somewhere in the intake they say, almost as a side note: "I know it's not that bad. Other people have real problems."

That's always the tell.

Because people who are actually fine don't spend much time talking themselves out of needing help.

High-functioning doesn't mean healed. It means you got really good at keeping it moving, even while something inside has been signaling for a long time that it needs rest. Your nervous system doesn't know the difference between a deadline and a threat. When stress piles up without recovery, the brain stays in hypervigilance. Wired. Watchful. Waiting for the next thing to manage.

That's not a personality type. That's exhaustion that's been going on long enough to feel normal.

And a lot of times, the people carrying the most are the ones least likely to say so.

So if you've been holding it together and quietly running on empty, getting support isn't overreacting. It's overdue.

We're here when you're ready.

When someone has experienced trauma, their brain and body stay on high alert, constantly scanning for danger even when none is present.

This can look like:
• Feeling on edge or easily startled
• Overanalyzing people’s moods or behaviors
• Avoiding new situations or people
• Becoming overwhelmed in busy environments
• Always planning an “escape route”

These responses aren’t a choice they are the nervous system trying to stay safe.

The good news? With the right support, these patterns can improve.

Healing takes time, patience, and the right tools—but you don’t have to navigate it alone.
If this resonates with you, support is available.

Rumination is a repetitive cycle of negative thoughts and worries.

It is fueled by unanswerable questions like "What do people think of me?" "Why do I keep failing?" and "Why can't I stop worrying?"

Here are 5 steps to break the habit, from a new CBT-based therapy:

Sometimes it’s not the big things it’s the quiet patterns that slowly drain us. It's the overthinking, the overgiving, holding onto one-sided relationships, trying to fix others while neglecting yourself.

These habits can leave you feeling exhausted, unappreciated, and disconnected from your own needs. Healing starts with awareness. Growth starts with boundaries.

You deserve relationships that are mutual, supportive, and consistent. 💚

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed or emotionally drained, you’re not alone.

This is one of those moments that can feel confusing, frustrating, and even a little rejecting as a parent.

When a child says “I don’t want to go,” it can look like defiance… avoidance… or simply being difficult. But underneath that behaviour is often something much more vulnerable. It’s not about refusing — it’s about not coping.

For many children, especially those who experience anxiety, sensory overwhelm, or emotional dysregulation, everyday expectations can suddenly feel too big. School, social events, transitions, even leaving the house can trigger a stress response in the brain.

And this is where it’s important to understand the fight response.

When a child’s brain perceives something as too much, it shifts into protection mode. Sometimes that looks like shouting, arguing, refusing, or pushing back. Not because they won’t… but because, in that moment, they genuinely feel like they can’t.

When we reframe “I don’t want to go” as “this feels too big for me right now,” it changes how we respond. Instead of pushing harder, we can support, scaffold, and co-regulate.

If this resonates, it’s often a sign to look beneath the behaviour and ask:
What feels overwhelming here?
What support does my child need to feel safe enough to try?

🌿 ADHD & the Gut–Brain Connection 🌿

Did you know your gut may play a role in focus and thinking skills?

🧠 A recent triple-blind, randomized controlled trial found that probiotic supplementation significantly improved executive functioning in children with ADHD compared to placebo.

👶 Who? Children with ADHD

💊 What? Probiotics (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium lactis, Bifidobacterium longum)

⏱ How long? 2 months

📊 Result? Meaningful improvement in executive function scores

Probiotics may be a helpful non-pharmacological adjunct to traditional ADHD care. More long-term research is needed, but the gut–brain axis continues to show promise!

📌 Always talk with a healthcare provider before starting supplements.
