Massage Hope - Therapeutic, Sports & Prenatal Massage Center has a more clinical approach to massage. All of our massage therapists are hand picked and tested for industry leading knowledge and skill. We focus on helping people with acute and chronic conditions. A session with one of our therapists might not always be the most relaxing time. We treat your problems using techniques like Neuromuscul

ar Massage Technique, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Sports Massage, Prenatal Massage, Stretching and other skills that get the job done. Even though the use of these deep tissue techniques may cause some discomfort at times, we try to find the right balance of pressure where "it hurts so good". And for those days you really just need to zone out and relax, we are REALLY good at that too... If you have any questions or concerns about the quality or abilities of our massage therapist, please do not hesitate to contact us. We HOPE to work with you soon!

CBD!! It’s more than just a fad! So what are the benefits of using CBD during massage?
·
Firstly, It’s important to know that topical CBD has a different effect on the body than ingesting it.
·
When ingesting CBD (taken by tincture sublingually - under the tongue), it goes directly into the blood stream, which has a faster effect on the body as a whole. It can reduce chronic inflammation/pain, help bring the body back into a state of balance (homeostasis), and much more!
·
At Massage Hope we have tinctures available, but what about using topical CBD during a session?
·
Topical CBD will not get into the blood stream, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t effective. The same benefits listed above apply to topical CBD, but it is more localized to a specific area rather than effecting the whole body, which is why it is so great for therapeutic massage! Because of its anti-inflammatory effect, it is great for reducing localized muscle pain/soreness.
·
Some conditions that CBD can help treat are arthritis, psoriasis, acne, eczema, neuropathy, muscles aches and pain.
·
Even if you don’t have any of these conditions or any pain, CBD also has a very calming affect on the body.
·
At massage hope, you can easily add on CBD to you massage session. If you’re still unsure, just ask your therapist about CBD and they would love to help you make the right decision for your specific wellness needs!

We all love a good neck massage! But what are some other benefits of neck massage beside simply feeling AMAZING?!
·
1 - Improves Posture - We live in a world that’s hunched over. Whether you’re looking down at your phone, computer, or you’re meal prepping for the next week, most of the time we are looking down.
·
Massage can help to loosen and lengthen the neck muscles, reducing the soreness from day to day activities, and improving posture.
·
2 - Reduces Stress and Anxiety - General massage can do this, but specific work on the neck is even more crucial because of how much tension we all carry in our neck and shoulders.
·
Massage has been proven to raise serotonin and dopamine levels, two of the “feel good” hormones. These hormones help relax the nervous system into a “rest and digest” (parasympathetic) state. And when the nervous system is relaxed, so is the body.
·
3 - Strengthens Immune system - As already stated, we hold so much tension in our neck. When that tension is release we feel more relaxed which can lead to better sleep. Sleep being the primary place where healing in the body happens.
·
In a study done in 2012, participants had two massages a week for five weeks. The results of the study showed an increase in white blood cells and lymphocytes, which are vital for fighting off sickness and infections.

What does deep tissue REALLY mean?

To put it simply, what’s “deep” is relative to the individual receiving the massage. What’s “deep” for them could be “light” to someone else. Here’s the twist though…

Can you get a “deep tissue” massage with “light” pressure?…YES!! Here’s why…

Every layer of connective tissue is well, connected lol. So if a therapist spends enough time in one area of the body (using lighter pressure), they WILL get into the deeper fibers of that muscle. BUT… it takes longer 😂🤷🏼‍♂️.

So to get the most “bang for your buck” when it comes to therapeutic massage work, a “firm” deep tissue massage will usually give you what you need in a typical 60 to 90 minute session.

So now that you know what “deep tissue” really means, is a deep tissue massage right for you? Let’s us know in the comments!

How to reduce stress in the body?

The main hormone that arises when we are stressed is called cortisol. So how do we get this hormone lowered so our body can better relax.

To start, when cortisol is raised in the body, it’s because we have reason to be in a “fight or flight”/stressed state. When we are in this state, our body cares more about taking care of the stressor instead of our bodies basic functions.

This can cause many health problems because what if we find ourselves constantly stressed? How can our body function properly if all our body’s energy is just focused on the stress?

To be short, it can’t. So we need to find ways to relax so this hormone can be lowered and our body can function as it’s suppose to without stress involved. If we don’t address the issue we will feel it in our body in many ways. Lack of sleep, fatigue, depression, ect.

So here are a few ways you can lower stress and decrease cortisol levels, and have your body functioning properly!

Deep breathing is huge!! If you find yourself stressed out, you may be taking shallow breathes, maybe breathing in more than out, or maybe even holding your breathe without realizing it.
To help fix this, become aware of your breath, breathe deep into your diaphragm, and make sure your exhalation is longer than your inhalation.

Another way is to lower cortisol is sleep!! We’ve talked plenty about sleep on our page before. Sleep is extremely important for recovery. When your asleep your parasympathetic (rest and digest) system is in operation. This heals the body and brings your body back in to balance.

Last but not least, MASSAGE!!!! Massage has been shown time and time again to help your body heal, reduce cortisol levels, and bring your body into balance. Massage also elicits dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin, which are other “feel good” hormones that help you feel safe, which lowers cortisol, lowers stress, and allows your body to heal!

Of course breathing and sleep can be done on your own. But we would love to help you with the last bit! So feel free to call or book a online now!!

What is Craniosacral therapy and how can it help?!

Craniosacral therapy is a type of bodywork that uses gentle touch to manipulate the skull and sacrum (the triangular bone located at the base of the spine). By applying light pressure to these areas, practitioners believe that they can release tension and improve the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, whi

What is the best type of preventative care?

Doctors office❌
Going to the gym❌
Stretching❌
Massages ✅

We may be a little bias 😉 but here’s the reason as to why we think this way…

Doctors -
Doctors are valuable! And we’re not discrediting them at all! If we can’t help with you’re pain or discomfort, we recommend you see a doctor! That being said, normally doctors are seen when symptoms are already present. So maybe not so preventative.

Going to the gym -
This one was tricky. Can going to the gym help prevent illness and injury? Absolutely. Can going to the gym also cause injury if not careful? Yes. So it’s not 100% preventative.

Stretching -
(Also a tricky one) Stretching can prevent injury and can help the body move and function better! However, there are spots and areas we may be blind to, or we just can get that “one knot” on our own that we’ve been working at for weeks! We need a professional set of hands and eyes to be able to properly work out the disfunction.

Massage -
Unless you’re seeing someone who doesn’t really know what they are doing, massage should not injure you in any way. Massage will benefit your mood, sleep, energy, range of motion, blood flow, strengthen your immune system, and relax you after a hard or stressful days work. We know we’re bias, BUT massage is truly a great preventative care practice for all the reasons listen above.

To help you be more preventative in terms of your health, we usually suggest seeing a massage therapist once per month. This will put your body in a sort of rhythm and flow where your body gets a “reset” once a month. And we’re always happy to see you!

As many of you know, our owner and fearless leader Johnny, his son Elias has cancer… last Sunday 11/22, Elias passed away...

We are all incredibly heartbroken and still in shock. Elias was a light to many and incredibly brave. He was a gift to everyone who met him and the memories of him will be cherished forever.

Even through hell, he always had a smile. And last Sunday heaven got him to soon.

Elias will forever be in Massage Hope family’s heart. We are sending so much love to our owner Johnny and his family. And we appreciate your love and support through this time.

Thank you. Much love ❤️

Hot or cold therapy? Which one should you do?

Here’s some differences between hot and cold therapies

HEAT can increase blood flow and circulation, warm soothe and loosen muscle tension, increases nutrients to a specific area of the body via blood flow, helps quicken the healing and more…

COLD decrease blood flow, reduces inflammation and swelling, helps heal acute injuries, improves mental clarity, improves sleep and more…

So which should you choose? Depends on what you are dealing with. What we normally recommend is switching between the two, whether it be an ice pack or a a cold shower; a hot towel or steaming bath, see which FEELS better to you, then stick with it.

Either way, hot and/or cold therapy is a great way to maintain the effects of massage in between sessions. If you don’t already have some sort of routine of hot or cold therapy, it could be beneficial to start one for many of the reasons listed above!
