Exciting news for our MD friends - guess who’s back at the Bounty?!

A little backstory here - At the end of 2019, our elderberry syrups launched for the first time ever at Chesapeake's Bounty in St. Leonard, MD. Everything they sell there is from the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

When we moved home to South Carolina, we took our elderberry cuttings with us. We stopped being sold at many MD locations including the bounty due to the move. Our elderberries are grown right here now, we were relicensed in this state & other ingredients like our honey is now sourced locally to us.

However, the organic black Aronia found in Elderberry Gold is still sourced from Chester River Aronia on the eastern shore of MD - this gave us a way to come back to Chesapeake’s Bounty where our elderberry syrup journey began!

Side note: My husband picked up some fresh turmeric root they had just harvested for juicing when he was there last week - check out stories for how we use it for immune support!

Have you ever wanted a flock of all different colored egg layers + a chicken coop? Have you been ready for fresh backyard eggs?! We just put 12 rainbow eggs in the incubator for a special cause, to raise money for kids who need a bright place in their life, a change, a new future path.

We are going to raffle a full mini flock of chicks + a well built coop (more pictures of the coop to come once it’s painted!) to support our friends at Camp Crazy Faith who are fighting the fact that su***de is the second leading cause of death in children ages 12 - 18.

Stay tuned for more pictures of the coop and the raffle! We can deliver within 50 miles of Leesville SC no charge or come pick it up wherever you are 😍

Calvert/Maryland friends!!

Many of yall know that we moved our farm home to SC in 2022 and there was no longer the ability to get our elderberry syrups in Calvert.

My friend Mari has recently opened an adorable farm stand and is stocked with elderberry now!

Maritza Ritza & I originally connected in 2020 over homeschooling + our shared love (or addiction) for chickens 😂 and now she is raising Valais Black Nose Sheep at her homestead.

You can follow along on her new Wild Goose Farmstand adventures even if you aren’t in MD!

A few months ago we had to find a new farm for our Sebastopol pair of geese because the male had decided he had a personal vendetta against my mom 🤪😆

The family who ended up taking them was White Rock Family Farm of Lancaster, SC who is also living the farmstand life raising small kids, connecting farms & supporting small businesses/makers - and naturally our elderberry syrup ended up at their farm stand too!

This mom bakes specialty sourdoughs (like the chocolate in the picture 😋) & all kinds of homemade goods, and has the stand stocked with fresh local milk, flowers, custom coffee orders, local honey, eggs, seasonal produce & more in the cutest little self serve shop.

If you’ve been looking for locally raised beef where you can pick up right there at the farm, check out H+J Cattle Co. farm in Saluda, SC that features heritage beef, pork + all kinds of local products including milk, baked goods & our elderberry syrups!

See more in stories, but our favorite part about going to their farm shop is the scenic drive there & tractor-themed playground for the kids 🚜💚

(Btw…If your husband loves steaks & smoking meats, this may be a new favorite place 😉)

We had our last lamb born early this morning & that puts a close on the 2026 lambing season - a total of 10 babies born in the last week! They are all so precious & already exploring/playing with eachother. 💕

If you’ve been wanting to start a small backyard dairy with East Freisian dairy sheep or Tunis breeds (or add to your herd) send us a message! These babies will stay here until they are weaned at 3-4 months old.

Yesterday a little buckling & doeling were born to each of our Nubian goats, their first ever babies.

Nubian dairy goats are known for their milk production/high butterfat content. But they are also very friendly pets & companions - maybe even too friendly (ours will literally not leave your side as long as they can follow you they will 😆)

The winter storm brought snow, ice …and our first lamb of 2026. Meet Fern!

Fern is a Southdown Babydoll breed. This mini-sized breed can be great for w**d control, companion animals for other livestock or just adding cuteness to your backyard (although she is not for sale!) 💕

For more on her birth, check out stories

Our little farm & all the animals made it safely through the snow and the coldest temperatures the last few days.

Check out stories for snow pictures from around here. The snow has been beautiful but the lows (14 + 17 degrees 🥶) the last 2 nights were worrisome with the amount of babies we have due. Thankfully temps look warmer from here on out!

The sheep have started getting the beginnings of milk “bags” indicating that this year’s lambs are not very far away! We have Feb 5 - 20th on the calendar for baby Nubian goats & sheep, but there is always room for surprises in there ☺️

Over the next few weeks housing/bedding areas will be freshened up + winterized for newborns, extra nutrition & minerals for moms, restocking lambing/kidding essentials…and labor watch is on!

Side note - If you’re looking to add baby doll lambs, Tunis sheep, east Freisan dairy sheep or Nubian dairy goats to your homestead this year, you can send a message to get on the waitlist 🐐🐑🥛🐏

"The color of springtime is in the flowers, the color of winter is in the imagination."
- Terri Guillemets

Anyone else imagining & dreaming of their spring gardens, the flowers of a warmer season + green landscapes? We’ve got some big ideas for what the farm is growing this year & cant wait to show you!

🌼 🌼 🌼

**As a side note, these are the sulphur cosmos we planted last year that bloomed from June to the first cold frosts of the year in November. No watering them and they were virtually maintenance free - if you’re dreaming of flowers too, the link is in the comments.

Many of yall came to this Spring’s sheep shearing & I wanted to follow up with the journey that same wool took afterwards!

After shearing, the wool was separated, cleaned from debris & washed.

Once you have a collection of 60 POUNDS or more of wool (one adult fleece averages about 5-7 pounds), it can be sent to a wool mill. Mills have equipment to further clean, card & spin the wool into yarn that is much for efficient, uniform and consistent quality than hand spinning.

Check out these pictures from the sheep, to the mill, to the yarn! Michelle Silberman is the fiber artist using this wool and she will also be utilizing natural dyes to color some of this batch’s yarn.

How satisfying to see something like this come full circle - the slow, tedious - yet beautiful - process of natural fibers will always be superior to their plastic/petroleum based “fast-fashion” counterparts we see in most clothing today. That’s just a personal opinion though 😉 - what do you think? Cotton, linen, wool, angora, etc for you…or do you prefer the feel of polyester, nylon, rayon, acrylic synthetic fibers?
