"Seen, but not seeing,"

I would love to know the story of the man. As we walked past and probably spent 15-20 minutes photographing him, he never moved. I almost wondered if he was sleeping in this sitting position. But on the other hand I had this sense that he was aware of everything that was going on in his surroundings. I know that I was seen, but when you look at his eyes, there is some aspect of him not seeing. I truly want to know who this man is and what his story has been. Hopefully this photo captures a small glimpse of his story right now.

"The Street Sweeper"

One morning while walking through and old part of town we came upon this woman and 2 others who were sweeping and cleaning the street. There were a couple of things that just struck me as I watched them work.

First, the vibrancy of this woman's saris in contrast to the dust and grime of the work she was doing. I would never wear such beautiful cloths to do such a dirty job. But her she was day after day keeping the streets clean.

Second is the fact that here is a woman sweeping a street with a handmade broom. You would never see that in our cities and towns. Sometimes the juxtaposition of old world and new world were mind blowing. And this was one of those time. Old world street sweeper in a city of 4.5 million people. Truly Amazing!

"The Stories of a Window Pane."

As part of a photography group, we had the assignment to photograph glass. Not something I normally do. However, because of this assignment, while I was in India, I looked for potential photos that had glass in it.

This window was in Amber Fort. A palace fort structure that was built in the 1500's. I thought the frame was exquisite and the glass amazing. I can only imagine what stories this window pane has seen over it many years of separating the inside of this fort from the outside.
