Anxiety isn’t just worry it can show up as restlessness, overwhelm, avoidance, or physical tension.

Therapy gives you tools like identifying thought patterns, grounding techniques, and coping strategies so you feel more in control of your nervous system rather than at its mercy.

If anxiety feels heavier than it used to, that’s a sign support could help

Traumatic events can leave lasting emotional weight but healing is possible. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps your brain reprocess distressing memories so they’re less overwhelming.

EMDR can help reduce symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and unresolved pain by giving your nervous system a new experience of old memories one rooted in safety and healing.

If trauma still shows up in your life, you don’t have to carry it alone. is here to walk with you through that healing journey.

When anxiety pulls you into the future or past, grounding brings you back to now. 🌿

✨ 5 things you can see
✨ 4 things you can hear
✨ 3 things you can touch
✨ 2 things you can smell
✨ 1 thing you can taste

This simple technique helps your nervous system remember: you’re safe in this moment.

Not all winter sadness is the same.

❄️ Seasonal Depression (SAD):
• Symptoms are intense and persistent
• Lasts most of the season
• Interferes with daily functioning

🌤 Winter Blues:
• Milder and temporary
• Doesn’t disrupt daily life
• Improves with small changes

If winter feels heavier than usual, support can help. You don’t have to navigate it alone. 💙

New Year, New Intentions: Honoring Mental Wellness Month

January isn’t about reinventing yourself—it’s about reconnecting with yourself.
As we step into a new year, we invite you to release the pressure of radical resolutions and instead embrace small, compassionate steps toward mental wellness.

Mental Wellness Month is a reminder that:
Progress doesn’t have to be loud
Healing isn’t linear
Growth begins with one gentle choice at a time

Maybe this year looks like…
• Setting a boundary you’ve needed
• Taking a moment to breathe before reacting
• Letting go of an unrealistic expectation
• Reaching out for support when things feel heavy

These small steps matter. They build resilience, clarity, and connection—without judgment or urgency.

At Healing Steps Counseling, we’re here to walk alongside you:
Individual Therapy
Couples Counseling
Family Support
EMDR & Trauma-Informed Care
Faith Transition Support
LGBTQ+ Affirming Services
Anxiety, Depression & Stress Management

If you’re ready to make your mental wellness a priority in 2026—one gentle step at a time—we’re here to help you begin.
Wishing you a year of compassion, grounding, and intentional growth.

This season can hold joy, connection, nostalgia—and sometimes heaviness, too.
Wherever your heart is today, we want you to know this: your feelings are valid, and you don’t have to navigate them alone.

Whether you're celebrating with family, creating new traditions, or simply trying to make it through the day, we hope you find small moments of peace, comfort, and rest.

May this Christmas bring:
A quiet breath when you need it
Warmth in the places that feel tender
Connection with those who help you feel safe
Hope for the year ahead

Thank you for trusting us to walk with you through life’s highs, lows, and everything in between.
We’re honored to support your healing journey—today and always.

Merry Christmas, with compassion and care.

Holiday stress + unspoken expectations = the perfect storm for conflict.
One Gottman-approved way to keep conversations calm and connected is to use a Soft Start-Up—a gentle way of expressing your needs using “I” statements instead of blame.

Try this:
Instead of saying, “You never help with holiday stuff,”
try…
“I’m feeling overwhelmed and I would really appreciate help planning the schedule this week.”

A soft start-up does three things:
Lowers defensiveness
Helps you express needs clearly
Creates space for teamwork instead of tension

Small shifts in language create big shifts in connection—especially during high-stress seasons.

Holiday reminder: You’re on the same team.
