High - low plank is one of my favorite total body exercises and I LOVE how it requires you to really stabilize your core.
I always remind my clients to be mindful that their hips do not sway side to side.
If you notice this hip sway during this workout engage your core and slow it down.
***Modification*** You can also do this on your knees

Enjoying this delicious Curry salad topped with flax crackers & tofu!!
I see FAR too many women say that they are struggling to enjoy going out to eat on their (insert restrictive diet here)
They can't enjoy a lunch with their friends or a birthday dinner for a family member....
๐Ÿ›‘Life is too short for this craziness!!
A little tweak in your perspective and the whole situation is completely transformed!
๐Ÿ›‘ Stop eating before you go and only drinking water!!!
๐Ÿ›‘ Stop avoiding going out or social gatherings
๐Ÿ›‘ Stop toting 'compliant food' in your purse
I have literally heard from women who refuse to eat restaurant food because it has salt in it ๐Ÿคฆ
It is perfectly fine to strive to nourish your body and eat nourishing foods!! I am 100% supportive of that!
I eat a whole food plant based diet 90% of the time...sometimes 85% ๐Ÿ˜
I am not going to stress whether the restaurant added a bit of oil to the rice or beans or if there is sugar in the sauce....*gasp in terror* I've got better things to do in my life than stressing about every minute detail of my food all the time.
When I go to a restaurant I see it as a fun adventure to go to any restaurant to create a beautiful and delicious meal out of all the healthy ingredients and sides I find on the menu. I've NEVER had a problem creating something I loved!
The difference is:
I am not stressing about minute details
I have decided to enjoy the process of creating a healthy meal I enjoy
I am eating WITH my friends or family
No stress, no worry, no sitting at home avoiding going out
If your diet choice is causing you so much stress and anxiety that you can't eat out or it becomes a stressful endeavor it is time to rethink what you are doing...this is NOT sustainable.

Your relationship with exercise & food is a reflection of your relationship with yourself!
If you truly love who you are, love yourself, honor your body and its needs your relationship with food and exercise will look completely different than if you do not like who you are, do not like yourself and punish your body to try to make it look differently.
Exercising from a place of self love doesn't mean you can't push yourself to become stronger, better or even leaner.
The difference is:
You choose types of exercise you enjoy
You don't exercise when you didn't get a good nights sleep
You do not exercise when your muscles are still sore
You don't stress on vacation when you aren't exercising for a week.
There is no right or wrong way to exercise
Here I am in 2019 on vacation and spending all of my days outdoors walking, exploring and enjoying the sun on my face.
Life is short, too short to spend it dieting, stressing, obsessing about food and exercise!
You can achieve the goals you want to achieve, you just don't have to do it out of forced eating windows, dieting, fitness fads and obsessing.....It is FAR more effective when done from a place of self love!

I often speak about letting go of diet culture and I whole heartedly believe it leads to the happiest, long term outcomes.
However, many women struggle with emotional eating that sabotages their goals.

Breakfast Chocolate Smoothie Bowl
I see so many women struggling with night snacking, cravings, not able to lose weight, asking how to prepare kale so they can actually like it, and asking how they can enjoy going out with friends with their new restrictive diet rules.....
Every single one of these struggles is directly linked to DIETING!!
It is a miserable way to live!
When I comment in forums and groups that it is okay to go out with friends and enjoy it I get A LOT of hate!! This is truly sad to me. People cling to their rigid diet gurus rules like followers of a religious cult!!!
It is okay to eat healthy and want to lose weight or eat better....but it is NOT okay to be so rigid you can't even enjoy going out to dinner!
YES...you can lose weight, eat healthier AND enjoy it!

Science isn't always Science.....
People cite research stating that potatoes cause diabetes and blood sugar issues, even weight gain.
The problem with the studies they are citing is that the LARGE majority of the 'potatoes' eaten by participants were in the form of fries.
You cannot say that a potato caused something when there are a dozen other ingredients included with the potato, especially a slew of refined oils!
Potatoes are a POWERHOUSE of nutrition and are a staple in my diet. I find it amusing that people are afraid of 'white' foods and they include potatoes in this list as if somehow this whole food is the same as white sugar or refined flour ๐Ÿคฃ
Potatoes are a WHOLE FOOD, they are not refined and they are full of fiber, protein, vitamin C, folate, zinc, Iron, B6 and even omega 3's!!!
Stop the diet culture madness and eat your potatoes!

I know that you think what stands between you and your goals = being perfect!!
If you keep chasing perfection....you will NEVER get there!
What you need is CONSISTENCY!
๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ Stop chasing the next fad diet
๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ Stop trying to follow 'skinny instagram girl's' diet
๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ Stop intermittent fasting (skipping meals)
โœ”๏ธ Eat in a way that you can live with consistently
โœ”๏ธ Eat when you are hungry!
โœ”๏ธ Enjoy a treat once in a while
Getting to your goals isn't about perfection it is about consistent, daily habits that you can actually stick to FOREVER!

What You See On Instagram Does Not Tell The Whole Story!!
Am I saying that eating a salad is bad? NO!
However, there is a big difference between choosing to eat a salad on a hot summer day when you aren't very hungry and a salad sounds good vs. Forcing yourself to eat a salad because skinny Instagram girl says she eats on everyday!
Vegetables DO NOT contain enough calories/energy to sustain your basic bodily functions!
Vegetables are low in calorie density and if you focus too much on eating them vs. higher calorie carbohydrates you will have CRAVINGS!! ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿฉ๐Ÿช
Vegetables are an excellent source of micronutrients and are part of a healthy diet....but focusing your diet around vegetables may cause:
Insatiable cravings
Night snacking
Binge eating
Fatigue
Brain fog
Sugar cravings
and more.....
Eating a healthy diet is great.....but make sure you are eating in a balanced way.
You know you are eating in a balanced healthy way when
You do not have cravings
You have abundant energy
,
Mental clarity
You are not preoccupied with thoughts of food.....

When I tell women that the reason for their uncontrollable sugar cravings, night snacking, and mental hunger is often intermittent fasting....they ask me....
How Do I Know When I Should Eat?
The short answer โœ”๏ธ WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY!
Diet culture has caused so many women to be confused about something as simple as when to eat.
โ“What if I am not hungry in the morningโ“
๐ŸฅžHave you been intentionally skipping breakfast?
๐ŸƒHave you been on a restrictive diet (keto, low carbohydrate, small portions?)
๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธDo you engage in high intensity cardio or exercise more than 45 minutes per day?
๐Ÿฐ Do you struggle with strong sugar cravings?
๐Ÿฅœ Do you struggle with night snacking?
If you do any of the above ๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿป your hunger hormones are likely imbalanced and your hunger signals are not working properly.
What do you do?
1. Start eating breakfast within 1 hour of waking.
2. You MUST eat adequate carbohydrates for brain function which is about 130 grams per day for the average person.
3. STOP the high intensity cardio and do 30 minutes strength training 3-4 times per week and walking only!
4. STOP the intermittent fasting or reality check....intentional starving!
within a week or so your hormones will start to regulate and your hunger signals will normalize.
Once this happens...EAT WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY!!
Stop ignoring your body and forcing it into eating windows.
