At this point in my life story, I can look back at the younger me and understand better why life sometimes didn't turn out how I'd always planned it. That younger me sometimes felt so broken or jilted. But now, on this side of the story, I'm beyond glad life didn't always deliver my demands.

Do you feel jilted sometimes? Feel that your story isn't playing out how you desperately want? I get it.

I also know that on this side of your story, you might not yet know what is ahead. It feels impossible or unfair. And, honestly, there are times it is. And other times, you'll get to the other side of the story, look back, and realize it's actually so much more than you once thought. It's what you actually deserve.

What does this type of rest look like for you? Have you experienced this type of rest? Sometimes we're so tired and exhausted it is hard to notice what is happening inside us and what we need. Yet, you've probably mastered being able to know the needs of others you love.

Take time to stop- notice your breath- imagine looking inward, inside yourself. What is your body telling you? What do you need? What will bring you rest? Now, take action. Honor what you've learned about yourself and take time to rest. Give yourself rest.

Heard, Seen, Felt.

A great gift we can offer to others is to take the time to truly be present in the moment and practice hearing, seeing, and feeling where they are and their experience.

I've noticed when someone offers this to me, mt nervous system relaxes and my defenses come down.

Where do you find yourself on this continuum? I wish i could say that my answer surprised me, but 2020 has been tough!

When we recognize and acknowledge what we're really experiencing/ feeling, we can then choose to be kinder and more patient with ourselves. We can begin practicing self-care and using coping tools to get feeling better.

This infographic is very helpful and the link provided offers great coping strategies for you no matter how you feel your doing today.

Are you thriving or just surviving? The COVID pandemic has created a concurrent crisis around mental health. We all need to be taking care of each other, but that includes ourselves. This is especially true for healthcare workers. This site from the Colorado Healthcare Ethics Resource Group offers information and resources to help address the anxiety and stress that can, if left unaddressed, deteriorate into crisis. https://cohcwcovidsupport.org/

How to Make Socially Distanced Holidays Special!!
▪️(Advice from the Jewish community)

We've been feeling lots of feelings around here about missing out on many of our holiday traditions this year!
We will miss being with our family and friends.

I was DELIGHTED to read this article! The Jewish community actually just finished their holiday season and can now offer advice from their experience on making our holidays special.

Great hands on suggestions we now plan to weave into our own family celebrations.

What ideas will you use in your family??

Jews have now had all of our major holidays, and have learned a lot about balancing safety and celebration during a pandemic.

Have you have conflicts about COVID?

I’m guessing yes, since nearly every client of mine has said they have.

This post isn’t about what’s “right” to do.
(Although trust me, just like you- I have my opinions about that.)

This post is about understanding that you are only in charge of what YOU do.

And I get that in a situation like this, we all may have strong feelings about others’ behaviors. And truthfully, others behaviors might even affect us in this instance- which makes it even more intense.

But you are STILL only able to control your behavior.

Worrying about, or trying to control others’ behavior only leads to frustration, irritation and destroys your peace of mind.

And STILL doesn’t change their behavior.

Focus on what you have control over:
You can set limits.
You can follow through on your choices.
You don’t need others to agree with you to follow through.

Lots of boundaries to set around COVID.
