🌀🧡💙 One year ago, Hurricanes Helene and Milton tested the strength and resilience of our people and communities. On Sept. 23, 2024, HCA Healthcare’s Enterprise Emergency Operations Center was activated ahead of . Just three days later, Helene made landfall – bringing catastrophic flooding, tornadoes and widespread damage across Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. Then, on Oct. 9, struck Florida, just weeks after Helene.
In response, HCA Healthcare colleagues showed up – caring for patients, supporting one another and bringing critical relief to some of the hardest-hit communities, including those served by HCA Florida Healthcare and Mission Health.
• Hospital teams continued delivering exceptional patient care, even as some faced devastation in their own homes.
• Teams of HCA Healthcare nurses, physicians, behavioral health specialists, therapy dog teams, engineers and more traveled into devastated communities across the country, bringing support and comfort.
• Essentials like generators, gasoline and potable water were deployed to keep hospitals running.
• We connected with more than 30,000 impacted colleagues, ensuring access to food, housing and vital resources.
• The HCA Healthcare Hope Fund provided more than $3.3 million in grants to support over 3,500 colleagues – the largest response in the Hope Fund’s history.
As we mark this anniversary, we honor the courage, compassion and resilience of our colleagues – and remain committed to the care and improvement of human life, no matter the storm.
