This morning, teams from our hospital and our sister facility, HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital, took time away from daily schedules to give back to the community. Together, we volunteered at the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida, lending hands to support the fight against hunger across our region.

We spent the morning packing food for families who rely on these vital resources. The experience was a meaningful reminder of our commitment to caring for our community—both within our hospital walls and far beyond them.

Food insecurity continues to affect many of our neighbors, and we’re grateful for partners like the Harry Chapin Food Bank who help ensure families have access to nourishing meals. We’re proud to stand alongside them and the generous community volunteers we met today in this important work.

Across our broader HCA Healthcare network, caregivers treated more than 3,000 brain aneurysms last year. HCA Healthcare has 43 comprehensive stroke centers and cares for more than 70,000 patients admitted for stroke treatment annually.

Today, HCA Florida Lehigh Hospital proudly hosted the 2026 Florida Infectious Disease Transportation Network (FIDTN) Exercise, a collaborative effort to strengthen readiness for high-consequence infectious diseases.

This multi-agency drill brought together incredible partners, including:
✅ Florida Department of Health- Bureau of Preparedness and Response, Bureau of Epidemiology, Bureau of Public Health Laboratories and Lee County Health Department
✅ Florida Highway Patrol
✅ Lee County EMS
✅ Southwest Florida Healthcare Coalition

Together, we practiced critical protocols for patient intake, PPE procedures, laboratory coordination, and safe transport—all to ensure our community is prepared and protected.

We are grateful for the dedication and teamwork shown by all participants. Collaboration like this is key to safeguarding public health and enhancing emergency response capabilities.

We are proud to recognize Sabriena Doyle for her outstanding compassion and professionalism. Recently, a patient shared how Sabriena transformed what could have been an overwhelming experience into one of comfort and reassurance.

"I had an MRI of the brain and experienced significant anxiety before the test, to the point that I was nearly in tears. The technologist took the time to ask what was triggering my anxiety and listened attentively to my response. Through her compassion, understanding, and reassurance, she was able to help me feel safe and supported. As a result, I was able to complete the entire MRI without any issues. Her genuine care and professionalism made a meaningful difference in my experience."

Congratulations to Damis Irizarry, recognized for leadership excellence! Damis has done more than raise the standard of excellence; he has created a culture of collaboration and learning that inspires his team every day.

One moment that speaks volumes to Damis' character, happened when a young patient in our ER wished for a cup of hot chocolate. Not having any here that day, Damis took the time to make homemade hot chocolate, because he knew it would bring comfort and improve her experience here. That simple act of kindness reflects the spirit of our mission: above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.
