OUR 12TH ANNUAL MAHONING VALLEY FAIR

Residents of MVN&RC gathered in the courtyard on a warm, beautiful day for the special events of the Fair, on September 22, 2023. Music was played as residents were escorted into the courtyard, by staff and family members, but was soon drowned out by the laughter and sounds of the gathering crowd.

PICNIC IN THE COURTYARD

August 31, 2023 turned out to be the perfect day for a picnic for the residents of Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Our residents gathered in the courtyard, under the awnings over the patio, where they were served a picnic lunch.

TACO FRIDAY

Many of the residents at Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center gathered in the Emerald Grande Room to share a meal together on August 25th, 2023. They read on their weekly Activity Newsletter a special Activity was going to be held in the Grande Room after lunch. The sound of “chatter” and laughter flooded down the Emerald Wing as the Grande Room continued to be filled with happy residents and staff. To everyone’s surprise, there were 3 staff members dressed up as Tacos, which put a smile on their faces.

RELAXING AND ENJOYING THE FRESH AIR AND GOOD FRIENDS IN THE VALLEY.

Relaxing and enjoying the fresh air and good friends in the Valley. Many residents enjoyed gathering on the front porch at the Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on this beautiful day in August, “in the good old summer time”! Residents are enjoying conversing with peer friends, getting to know other peers better, and conversing with Activity staff.

CRUISIN’ FOR SMILES: CAR ENTHUSIASTS AND RESIDENTS UNITE FOR EPIC EVENT

“There couldn’t have been a more fabulous day for The Juke Box Cruisers Car Show, held on the grounds of the Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on August 12th. The photos tell the story of the young and young at heart, as residents, families, staff, and volunteers, along with members of the Juke Box Cruisers Car Club, shared in laughter, conversations, and camaraderie during this successful event. Residents and their escorts viewed the 51 unique and interesting vehicles that entered the show. The residents voted for their favorite vehicle, and trophies were handed out to the top winners. There was also a DJ who played uplifting music, food, and drinks available at the Food Stand, and door prizes for lucky winners. Members of the car club shared stories and proudly answered questions about their vehicles the residents. As shown in a photo, Channel 13 had a reporter/cameraman at this exciting and unforgettable event.”

Boot UP – Being computer literate.
You don’t have to have a computer to enjoy being computer literate.
Coffee shops, schools, libraries, and colleges offer the use of their computers to the general public. Today’s technology dictates the need for computer knowledge. Classes are available online as well as at local schools, colleges, and community centers.

If someone you cared about, like your Mother, were to fall and break her hip? That would be terrible, the pain. The inability to move around or take care of herself or the strain on loved ones would be very difficult. Due to this injury, Mom would likely need to undergo a hip replacement. Which would require post-operative care and physical therapy to help her regain strength and mobility? How would you handle it?

MOTSIE AND THE BOYS PERFORMING FOR SENIORS
Performing for Nursing Homes
Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation recently had a music group come in and sing for our residents the past week. The interesting thing about this group is one of the performers was a resident for therapy and medical intervention, and they all were self-taught. Not one of them had lessons.

A PRECIOUS GIFT

BAKING CLUB – TEA PARTY
Our residents will at Baking Club mix and prepare the cake being prep and Dietary staff will bake it for us. We brought out the fine china and enjoy conversation, music, and a nice snack.
