đ The first week back to school can feel like a whirlwindâ new routines, earlier mornings, heavier backpacks, and lots of new stressors for little bodies and big ones too!
đAs a back to school reminder, lets discuss a couple of things:
đŞ When sitting at a desk, remind your child to use the 90-90-90 rule! (Keep 90 degrees at the hips, knees, and ankles, and your feet flat on the ground.
đ Backpacks- Wear both straps, make sure a loaded backpack is no more than 10-15% of your childâs body weight, Distribute weight evenly put the heaviest items closest to the back with lighter toward the front, Ensure a proper fit- make sure the backpack fits close to the body, it should rest evenly in the middle of the back and not sag below.
â Did you know that your childâs nervous system plays a HUGE role in how well they adapt to big changes (such as school)?
When the nervous system is stressed or overloaded, kids may show it through:
đTrouble Focusing in class.
