Our Story

Having had a busy practice as a clinical psychologist since 2008, Dr. Yamasaki realized that she could only help as many people as were hours in the workday. Working in a community with high mental-health demands, she decided to open Ayama Psychotherapy (2017), where she could help decrease the barrier of entering private practice for other clinicians and potentially add more services to help people outside of a private therapy office.

Our little office at Ayama Psychotherapy has developed into a forward-thinking practice, which values intentional living, compassion and appreciation of overall health. Our therapies are up-to-date and effective, and we invest in the future of psychology. We take time to match client needs with therapist specialties, so that our clients have a fulfilling experience and therapists are sheltered from burn-out; undergraduate interns are integrated into our daily work life and providing them with mentorship, which gives them an edge in applying to competitive graduate programs and well-prepared to take on the challenges associated with having a career in healthcare.
