There are no known cases of Marburg virus disease currently spreading in the United States. While there was a recent outbreak in Rwanda, the risk of the virus spreading to the U.S. is considered low, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has implemented public health measures to mitigate the risk of imported cases. While rare, it's crucial to be informed:

Origin: It's a filovirus, like Ebola, with fruit bats being natural hosts.

Transmission: Spreads through human-to-human contact via direct contact with blood, secretions, organs, or other bodily fluids of infected people, and with surfaces and materials (e.g., bedding, clothing) contaminated with these fluids.

Symptoms: High fever, severe headache, malaise, muscle aches, followed by vomiting, diarrhea, rash, and often severe hemorrhagic manifestations.

Prevention: Early diagnosis, isolation of infected individuals, and strict infection control measures are key to preventing outbreaks.

Stay informed about global health.
