After many weeks of consistent care, Althea returned for follow-up and we’re happy to report her Jingle Cellulitis healed and her wound has fully closed with no signs of Candy Cane Candida.

She’s now cleared to return to full North Pole duties and officially earned a spot on Santa’s Nice List for Patient Compliance. 🎄🧝‍♀️💚

After completing several weeks of standard wound care, offloading, and nutrition optimization, Althea advanced to hyperbaric oxygen therapy to support the final phase of healing.

She completed her dives while watching Elf (excellent seasonal alignment), and her polyester Fluff Drainage began showing signs of improvement. 🌬️🎬✨

To support proper healing, Althea was fitted with an elf-sized Total Contact Cast to keep pressure off her wound.

She remained fully compliant throughout several weeks of offloading and consistent nutrition, but her Jingle Cellulitis persisted and her foot wound stalled improvement despite being compliant in her treatment plan. The providers suggested a change in the treatment plan...

After her diagnosis and treatment of Candy Cane Candida infection, Althea began focusing on the foundations of healing — nutrition. She received nutrition counseling and learned that helping Jingle Cellulitis improve meant cutting back on hot cocoa and increasing protein and vegetables.

She started daily Juven, adjusted her North Pole diet, and her wound began showing some early improvement. 🥤🧝‍♀️💪

Earlier this season, we first met Althea the Elf after she stepped on a broken candy cane during North Pole preparations. She presented with a non-healing wound complicated by Jingle Cellulitis and polyester fluff drainage.

We performed her initial evaluation and collected a wound culture to rule out Hot Cocoa Staph, Gingerbread Streptococcus, and Candy Cane Candida. Her holiday healing journey officially began here. 🎄🧪✨
