But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works. Psalm 73:28
One of the most beautiful and rewarding aspects of walking with God and trusting Him particularly in adversity is the opportunity to declare and testify of the good works of our faithful God.
Nahum’s surgery is finished, and we are with him in recovery. He isn’t awake yet and has a nerve block that will help him with pain for a few hours. The surgeon said that all went well.
Nahum has bio cards (pictured below) with his picture, name verse, and story. He and I gave his cards to nurses, hospital staff, and the surgeon this morning before his surgery. We told each of them that they could have a smile to keep. The surgeon said when she met with us after the surgery that everyone in the OR read Nahum’s story. The most wonderful thing about that is not that these people had the opportunity to learn about Nahum but, far more importantly, that they had the opportunity to read about the Savior Who died on a cross for them and thereby accomplished hope for our todays and for our eternity. What an opportunity we have today to point to Christ and His sufficiency all because a tree limb fell on a little boy which caused traumatic brain injury which caused Nahum’s muscles to contract tightly and pull his hip out of its socket which brought us to the point of surgery on this day so that some strangers in Charlotte, North Carolina, could hear the sweet and satisfying name of Jesus! What a good, sovereign God Who graciously enables us moment by moment to rest in His control!
We are so unworthy of the honor of being here and pointing to Christ but so thankful to be included in the eternal story of Jesus.
Jesus is worthy!
Thank you for your continued prayers. I will update later after Nahum is awake and we can better assess his condition.
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. Romans 11:33-36
