📢 RESTART is now Caldwell County PORT

We’re excited to share that the RESTART program has a new name: Caldwell County PORT — Post-Overdose Response Team.

While the name has changed, our mission remains the same. PORT continues to provide outreach, engagement, and resource navigation to individuals who have experienced an overdose or are facing substance use challenges in Caldwell County.

Our team of Community Paramedics and Certified Peer Support Specialists works to meet people where they are, offering support, connecting them to resources, and helping them find the recovery pathway that works best for them.

PORT services remain free of charge, and anyone can make a referral.

Today we want to say thank you to everyone who came out and supported our Black Balloon Day event.

Seeing our community come together to remember loved ones, share resources, and support one another was incredibly meaningful. Each balloon represented a life that mattered and a reminder of why this work is so important.

Thank you to all of the organizations who set up tables, shared resources, and stood beside us in this mission, and to everyone who took time out of their day to attend. Your presence helped create a space of remembrance, compassion, and hope.

Events like this remind us that we are not alone in this fight. Together, we can honor those we’ve lost while continuing to support prevention, recovery, and healing in our community.

We are grateful for each of you. 🖤🎈

Black Balloon Day was founded in 2016 by Diane and Lauren Hurley to honor their family member, Greg Tremblay, a 38-year-old father of four who died of an overdose on March 6, 2015.

The Hurley family's initiative was to turn their grief into action and break the stigma surrounding addiction and create a movement to encourage others to share their stories.

The first observation of Black Balloon Day was help March 6, 2016, with 42,000 people in participation. The black balloons are a symbol of loss and signify a life taken too soon.

🎉Help Us Wish Our Peer Support Specialist, Steve, a Happy Birthday!🎉

Today we are celebrating Steve! He isn't big on recognition, but he absolutely deserves it. He is our definition of "tough love" in all the best ways.

His honesty, grit, and heart for the people we serve make a real impact every single day. Our team, and our community, is stronger because he is in it.

Join us in wishing Steve a happy birthday! We hope today brings him at least half of the good he puts into the world. 💚
