As we approach the anniversary of Hurricane Helene, Caldwell County Emergency Services urges citizens to be weather aware in preparation for potential weather impacts in the coming days. Storms are forecasted throughout the weekend followed by Tropical Disturbance 94L that has the potential to impact Western North Carolina early next week. Currently there is considerable uncertainty on the development of this weather event.

Please stay aware of the weather and prepare your emergency disaster kit in advance. Have 3-7 days of food, water, medicines, and basic needs for each person and pet in your residence. Charge cellular phones in advance and if possible have an emergency power source such as portable power bank/charger. For those that rely on home oxygen, ensure you have enough portable oxygen cylinders or the ability to power an oxygen concentrator based on daily consumption in case of an extended power outage.

Visit www.readync.org for information on current conditions, forecasts, and prepardness tips.
