Happy New Year's Eve everyone! With all the news circulating about this season's flu, I wanted to share a few reminders, especially to those gathering with family and friends.
The flu is different from the common cold. Flu symptoms often come on quickly and may include body aches, fever, chills, fatigue, and cough, while common cold symptoms tend to be milder and more likely to cause a runny nose and congestion.
You may have heard that this year's vaccine is not a perfect match to the virus going around, but often people who choose to vaccinate recover faster, have milder symptoms, and fewer complications. Remember, prevention is key! Wash your hands frequently, cover your mouth with coughs and sneezes, focus on good nutrition, hydration, and rest, stay home if you feel sick, and seek medical care early if your symptoms feel like more than just a cold.
