Today Historic St. Mary's City hosted the "Ceremony of Return" to reinter human remains of Maryland's early settlers, including Philip Calvert and his family, which were uncovered during archaeological studies. The solemn event featured a procession, historical reflections, and the reinterment at the Brick Chapel Exhibit. Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home was honored to partner with Suttler Post Farm Clydesdale'sto use our horse drawn hearse to carry the remains from the old state house to the chapel.

The day will honor the lives of early Marylanders and the historical legacy of the Brick Chapel—an enduring symbol of Maryland’s experiment in liberty of conscience.

• Assisting with the transfer and handling of decedents
