Today Historic St. Mary's City hosted the "Ceremony of Return" to reinter human remains of Maryland's early settlers, including Philip Calvert and his family, which were uncovered during archaeological studies. The solemn event featured a procession, historical reflections, and the reinterment at the Brick Chapel Exhibit. Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home was honored to partner with Suttler Post Farm Clydesdale'sto use our horse drawn hearse to carry the remains from the old state house to the chapel.

We are honored to participate in A Ceremony of Return this Saturday. We will be there with our horse drawn hearse pulled by The Suttler Post Farm Clydesdale's. If you haven't secured a free ticket, the link below can be used.

Historic St. Mary's City welcomes you to attend A Ceremony of Return, Saturday September 20th. The ceremony will commemorate the return and reinterment of individuals once buried at the Brick Chapel. The day will honor the lives of early Marylanders and the historical legacy of the Brick Chapel—an enduring symbol of Maryland’s experiment in liberty of conscience.

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and professional Funeral Assistant to join our dedicated team. This role is essential in supporting all aspects of funeral service, assisting funeral directors in planning, coordinating, and carrying out services with dignity, respect, and sensitivity.

• Providing support during visitations, funeral services, and burials
• Assisting with the transfer and handling of decedents
• Maintaining cleanliness and readiness of facilities and vehicles
• Interacting with families and guests in a calm, respectful, and professional manner
