Healthcare professionals are 2x more likely to end their lives by su***de than the general population. Many professionals do not seek treatment or support for fear of stigma or professional repercussions, coping alone with stress, burnout, and fatigue even as they provide care for others.

National Physician Su***de Awareness Day ( ) is a reminder that su***de impacts providers too. Today, and every day, we honor those we’ve lost, stand with those who are struggling, and commit to breaking down the barriers that keep healthcare professionals from the support they deserve.

Meet Angie, school counselor in Socorro ISD, and today's Care Hero of the Day!

Angie supports students across a Pre-K–8th grade campus with diverse needs, making mental health a priority in everything she does. She actively promotes mental health education and strives to break stigmas by sharing resources, initiating conversations, and encouraging open discussions in her school community.

Mental health affects everyone, yet there’s still so much stigma surrounding it. Angie is passionate about normalizing conversations, encouraging compassion, and ensuring people feel safe seeking help. She makes it a point to check in not only on students, but also on families and colleagues, offering encouragement and connecting them to resources like Care Solace when extra support is needed.

Through her work, Angie has helped many in her school community take meaningful steps toward healing, empowerment, and hope.💜

To our incredible educators, counselors, and administrators — thank you. You’re not just teaching; you’re guiding students through complex emotional challenges every day.

Hear from Netali Chopra, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, as she shares three easy, evidence-based ways to support both your students and yourself this school year:

✨ Quick regulation techniques like 5-5-5 breathing or mindful grounding
✨ A mindfulness corner with calming tools like fidgets, coloring pages, or even sour candy
✨ Empowering student voice with sentence starters like ‘I feel…’ or ‘Can you clarify…?’

Small changes can make a big difference.
