This January, we’re swapping the "new year, new me" pressure for small wins. True wellness isn't about reinventing yourself; it’s about supporting yourself. Whether that means a 2-minute breathing break or finally booking that therapy appointment—it all counts. No guilt, just growth.

Let’s step into the New Year not just with goals, but with grace for ourselves and a commitment to mental wellness. In 2...

Meet today’s Care Hero: Nichele, a High School Counselor at VaIl School District. To her students, she’s a safe space, a relentless advocate, and often, their "school mama."

Nichele shared a powerful story with us about a student facing significant behavioral and academic challenges. When it felt like options were running out, Nichele didn’t give up. Instead, she used Care Solace to connect the student and his family to outside therapy, bridging the gap between school and home support.

The result? With a team that refused to quit on him, he re-engaged, completed credit recovery, and graduated on time with his peers.

“Watching him walk across that stage was a reminder of what’s possible when we combine wraparound services with compassion and persistence,” Nichele says. “When we believe in them, they begin to believe in themselves.”

Did you know that 3 in 5 Americans report their mental health is negatively impacted by the holidays? For individuals living with a mental illness, research shows that 64% report their conditions worsen around this time.

As the season gets into full swing, it's crucial to acknowledge this common reality. Added stress from family expectations, financial burdens, and busy schedules can easily worsen symptoms of depression, anxiety, or a substance use disorder.

Four Ways to Prioritize Your Well-Being:
1. Listen to Your Feelings: Don't ignore or minimize your stress. Acknowledge what you are feeling without judgment.
2. Connect with Community: Reach out to people who lift you up, scheduled connection helps.
3. Use Caution with Substances: Be mindful of alcohol and drug use, as they can temporarily mask feelings but often worsen underlying mental health conditions.
4. Know When to Seek Help: If stress feels overwhelming or symptoms are worsening, reach out to a professional or helpline.

Remember: Your mental health is the most important gift you can give yourself this season.

Finals Season Self-Care Check-In! ☕️📚

The energy on campus is buzzing, but amidst the late-night study sessions, grading marathons, and administrative tasks, remember that you cannot pour from an empty cup.

Students, give your brain a quick reset. Take 15 minutes to step outside, throw on a favorite song, stretch, or simply close your eyes and breathe. And whenever you can, choose sleep - an even somewhat rested brain will carry you farther than an exhausted one.

School staff, build in small, non-negotiable “me” moments- even five quiet minutes helps. Set boundaries where you can, and remember: it’s okay to prioritize your well-being today.

Let's look out for each other and finish the semester strong - and healthy! 💪

Every student behavior tells a story - and sometimes what looks like “disengaged” is really anxiety, depression, or trauma beneath the surface.

In today’s testimonial, a school psychologist shares how one student’s transformation began when the right mental health support was put in place. The results were powerful: more connection, more confidence, and improved attendance.

This is why mental health care in schools isn’t a “nice to have.” It’s essential - and every student deserves to be seen, heard, and supported beyond academics.

Did you know 41% of adults report their stress increases during the holidays? While the season brings joy, it often comes with overwhelm, making it easy to miss moments of calm.

This reel reminds us that positive feelings are felt in the body, too—and noticing them is a powerful coping skill!

How to Practice Slowing Down:
1. Pause: Stop whatever you're doing.
2. Notice: Find one pleasant thing in your environment (e.g., the color of a chair, the smell of coffee, the warmth of your mug).
3. Tune In: As the speaker notes, "hang out" with that pleasant thing and observe how your body responds (e.g., expansion in your chest, lightness in your shoulders).
4. Grow It: Let that pleasant feeling grow.

Save this for when the holiday season feels like too much, too fast. By building this skill, the negative feelings stop feeling so all-encompassing.
