Today we’re celebrating Tori, a school counselor who turned her own mental health challenges into a mission to support others. Growing up, she often felt alone until one caring adult made space for her to open up. That moment changed everything and inspired her career in mental health.

Now, Tori shows up for her students, families, and staff the way someone once showed up for her. She listens without judgment, reminds her school community they're not alone, and keeps her door open—because sometimes being heard makes all the difference.

Thank you, Tori, for creating a safe space within your school community. You are a true Care Hero. 💚

For many students, the holidays can bring more stress than joy. As educators and school leaders, there are simple yet powerful ways to offer support before the break:

💬 Check in before break — A quick conversation can open the door for students to share how they’re really feeling.
📚 Share resources with families — Send home local and online supports for food, housing, and mental health services to help families stay connected to care.
💜 Normalize all feelings — Remind students it’s okay to feel excited, anxious, sad, or a mix of emotions this time of year. Every feeling is valid.
📞 Remind students where to find help — Make sure they know who they can talk to and how to access support if things feel difficult while away from school.

Because care and connection don’t stop when the doors close for holiday break.

This Native American Heritage Month, we’re honored to share a powerful story of healing, courage, and breaking through the stigma surrounding mental health care.

Seeking support can feel intimidating or misunderstood. But as her story reminds us, reaching out for help can be life-changing—bringing clarity, connection, and a path forward.

To Native communities everywhere: your stories matter. Your healing matters. And when you’re ready, support is here for you.

🌟 Care Hero of the Day: Leah Brown 🌟

Meet Leah Brown, a dedicated school counselor at Virginia Beach City Public Schools. Leah believes every student and family deserves access to quality mental health support and the opportunity to take control of their well-being.

Leah’s “why” comes from her own personal experiences. She strives to make sure every student feels safe asking for help, knows their feelings are valid, and has someone in their corner advocating for them.

Thank you, Leah, for your compassion, your advocacy, and the difference you make every day for the students and families you serve.

"There’s such a stigma about mental health… I didn’t seek services until my 40s, when my personal and professional life came crashing down. Reaching out was the smartest decision I’ve ever made." – Kenny, City Manager of College Park

Kenny’s story reminds us that seeking help isn’t a weakness, but a lifesaving strength. When we normalize conversations around mental health, we make it easier for others to reach out and get the support they need.

Community Spotlight: City of Monrovia

When the Eaton Fire struck earlier this year, the City of Monrovia faced not only the physical damage of the wildfire - but also the emotional toll it took on residents.

As the community came together to recover, Care Solace was able to step in and provide critical support - connecting affected residents to mental health care, housing resources, and crisis services right when they were needed most.

What began as a partnership focused on mental health access quickly evolved into a lifeline for wildfire victims across neighboring communities.

We’re proud to stand with Monrovia, and with every community facing hardship, helping residents access the right care, at the right time.

💜 Care Hero of the Day: Mallory 💜
Meet Mallory, a School Counselor for King Philip Regional School District who has been supporting students for over a decade. Through one-on-one counseling and her work as the advisor for Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Mallory creates a safe, judgment-free space where students feel seen, heard, and valued.

In a world where so many young people are struggling, she strives to be a steady, reliable person they can turn to for help. Her job allows her to show up for students in the ways they might not even know they need - celebrating wins, navigating hard moments, and always listening without judgment.

Thank you, Mallory, for your compassion, dedication, and unwavering advocacy for student wellness.

As teens get older, they face more peer pressure and make more choices on their own.

Here's the truth: Even when it doesn't seem like it, they really do hear your concerns.

Keep showing you care. Keep having conversations about the dangers of alcohol and drugs, and why substance use isn't worth the risk. Don't assume they already know where you stand. Send a clear, strong message: You disapprove of underage drinking and drug use and you expect them not to use.

Your consistency matters. Your voice matters. Keep talking.

Care Hero of the Day: Maritza 💜

As a Bilingual School Psychologist at Fresno USD and daughter of immigrants, Maritza knows what it feels like to navigate a school system that didn’t always reflect or understand her. Now, she champions the students who need it most—checking in daily, creating safe spaces, running lunch clubs that build sisterhood and self-love, and partnering with teachers and families to connect students to support before crisis hits.

Her “why” is simple. "I believe no child should ever feel alone in their pain. I do this work for the little girl I used to be, who could have used someone to advocate for her mental health. And I do it for the students I serve now, especially the bilingual, neurodiverse, or trauma-impacted children who carry invisible loads far too heavy for their age."

Thank you, Maritza, for your heart, advocacy, and quiet care.
