For athletes, recovery is where the gains happen.
High-level training can lead to:
• Muscle strains and micro-tears
• Joint sprains and impact bruising
• Fatigue and “flat” training days
🏋️ Where HBOT may fit in
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is used by some athletes as one tool to support recovery. By breathing oxygen under pressure, HBOT can:
• Deliver more oxygen to working and injured tissue
• Support the body’s natural repair processes
• Potentially shorten recovery from exercise-induced muscle damage in certain settings
It is not a magic fix, but it can be part of a smart plan built around training, rehab, sleep and nutrition.

Headaches. Brain fog. Mood changes. Fatigue.
For some people, these symptoms don’t stop after the initial concussion heals. When they linger for weeks or months, it’s often called post-concussion syndrome (PCS) or part of a mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) picture.
🧠 Where HBOT may fit in
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is being used in some centers as one tool to support brain recovery in selected TBI and PCS patients. Inside a pressurized chamber, you breathe concentrated oxygen, which can help:
• Improve oxygen delivery to injured brain tissue
• Support blood flow and microcirculation
• Assist the brain’s natural repair and neuroplasticity processes
HBOT for TBI is considered off-label and experimental. It’s not a magic cure and it’s not right for everyone—but for carefully screened patients it can sometimes be a valuable part of a bigger rehab plan.
🏥 Why Delaware Hyperbarics?
At Delaware Hyperbarics in Lewes, Delaware we:
• Use full-sized, medical-grade hyperbaric chambers
• Provide physician oversight and individualized protocols

Still not yourself after COVID?
Many people report ongoing symptoms like:
• Brain fog and memory problems
• Exhaustion after even small activities
• Shortness of breath or chest discomfort
• Sleep and mood changes or body pain
This is often called Long COVID or post-COVID condition.
🫁 Where HBOT may fit in
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is being studied as one potential tool to support recovery in selected Long COVID patients. Early research suggests HBOT may help:
• Improve oxygen delivery to the brain and body
• Support microcirculation and blood flow
• Calm inflammation and support repair processes
HBOT for Long COVID is off-label and experimental. It is not an approved cure and not right for everyone, but for carefully screened patients it may be part of a broader recovery plan.

Woke up and one ear suddenly sounds muffled or weak?
That can be a sign of sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) – and it is treated as an emergency. Symptoms may include:
• Rapid hearing loss in one ear
• Ringing, fullness or pressure
• Dizziness or imbalance
🩺 Where HBOT can fit in
For some patients, ENT-directed treatment may include steroid therapy plus Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) as an adjunct. Reviews and practice guidelines suggest HBOT may improve the chances of hearing recovery in selected SSNHL patients when used early and in combination with standard care.
HBOT is not for every case and must be directed by an ENT or otology specialist.

HBOT is powerful medicine – not a spa gadget.
You might see “oxygen pods” in gyms or wellness centers, but true Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) involves high oxygen levels in a pressurized chamber. Used correctly in a medical setting, it can be a valuable treatment. Used carelessly, it can be dangerous.
⚠️ Why safety matters
• High oxygen environments increase fire risk
• Unregulated facilities may use non-medical equipment
• Poor training and missing safety protocols have led to tragic accidents in the news
✅ What to look for in a real HBOT clinic
• Rigid, medical-grade chambers
• Physician oversight and trained hyperbaric staff
• Written safety and emergency protocols
• Clear list of medical conditions they actually treat
🏥 How Delaware Hyperbarics operates
At Delaware Hyperbarics in Lewes, Delaware, we:
• Use medical-grade HBOT chambers
• Follow physician-developed protocols and fire safety standards
• Treat approved conditions like chronic wounds, radiation damage and bone infection (osteomyelitis)
• Carefully screen off-label cases with a medical team

Staying sharp is a big part of healthy aging.
With age, it is common to notice:
• Slower processing speed
• Mild forgetfulness or word-finding issues
• Lower mental stamina
🧠 Where HBOT may fit in
Clinical studies have explored Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) in older adults and people with mild cognitive concerns. Some trials suggest HBOT can:
• Improve blood flow in certain brain regions
• Support neuroplasticity – the brain’s ability to adapt and repair
• Improve some measures of attention, processing speed and executive function
HBOT is experimental in this setting and not an approved dementia treatment. It should always be part of a broader medical and lifestyle plan, not a stand-alone solution.

Radiation treatment can be life saving, but it may leave a lasting mark on healthy tissue. That is called late radiation tissue injury, and it can show up as pain, bleeding, skin breakdown, jaw problems, pelvic issues, or even bone damage.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is one tool used to support healing in radiation damaged tissue. Inside a pressurized chamber, you breathe concentrated oxygen, which can help:
• Support new blood vessel growth
• Improve oxygen delivery in injured tissue
• Assist collagen and tissue repair
• Support certain cases of bone infection (osteomyelitis)
HBOT is not a cure and it is not right for everyone, but for carefully selected patients it can be an important part of a larger care plan.
At Delaware Hyperbarics in Lewes, Delaware, we work with chronic wounds, radiation injury and radiation damage, and bone infection in coordination with your oncologist and other specialists.

Chronic wounds are exhausting. They take time, energy, and emotional bandwidth. They can limit mobility and independence, and for some patients they even raise the fear of amputation.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a powerful tool for certain non healing wounds and bone infections. In a pressurized chamber, you breathe concentrated oxygen that helps:
• Increase oxygen levels in poorly perfused tissue
• Support white blood cells as they fight infection
• Encourage new blood vessel growth
• Assist in cases of bone infection (osteomyelitis) and radiation related wounds
HBOT is usually combined with advanced wound care, good blood sugar control, off loading, and antibiotics when needed. It is not a quick fix, but it can be a crucial piece of the limb salvage puzzle for the right patient.
At Delaware Hyperbarics in Lewes, Delaware, we work closely with wound care teams and specialists to integrate HBOT for chronic wounds, radiation damage, and bone infection.

Autism is more than behavior—it’s a brain-and-body condition that can affect how kids communicate, connect, and process the world around them. 🧠

In this video, we break down how Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) impacts the brain and why some families are exploring Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) as one tool in a wider care plan.

HBOT is a medical treatment where patients breathe concentrated oxygen in a pressurized chamber. Research and case reports suggest it may help support brain blood flow, calm inflammation, and influence repair processes. Some families and clinics report improvements in social connection, repetitive behaviors, sensory and gut issues, and language/emotional regulation.

HBOT is not a cure for autism, and using HBOT for autism is considered off-label and experimental—so it should always be done under medical supervision and alongside your child’s primary providers.

Delaware Hyperbarics provides medically supervised HBOT in real clinical chambers, not spa pods. We also see patients with radiation damage, radiation injury, and bone infection (osteomyelitis), along with chronic wounds and post-surgical healing needs.

First day after my first hyperbaric chamber session and here’s what I noticed 👇

I had some problems with my ears during the session, so they slowed down the pressurization specifically for me since my ears are more sensitive. That small adjustment made the whole experience way more comfortable.

The real surprise was afterward — I slept deeply and woke up feeling genuinely refreshed, like I actually got quality rest.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is being used more and more for recovery, brain and body health, radiation damage, and even bone infection (osteomyelitis). I’m just at the beginning of this journey, but I’m curious to see how I feel after a full series of sessions.

Have you ever tried a hyperbaric chamber or thought about it? Drop your questions or experiences in the comments.

There are major benefits to showing up consistently. Research shows that consistent effort over just 8-9 weeks can lengthen telomeres and do amazing things for the brain. Time is the only real obstacle. It's super beneficial!
