Belonging isn’t about fitting neatly into a space.
It’s about being met with warmth. The kind that says,
You don’t have to earn your place here.
For many of us, belonging was inconsistent growing up.
We learned to shrink, to please, or to stay quiet so we wouldn’t be pushed away.
As adults, we still chase that sense of safety through perfection, people, or performance.
Belonging looks different for everyone. It doesn’t have to come from a big community or a lifelong relationship.
Sometimes it’s found in a single person who makes us feel like we don’t have to try so hard.
When we find belonging, our nervous system exhales.
It tells the parts of us that once felt left out:
You’re allowed to be here. You’ve always been enough.
That’s where healing starts.
