As the rainy Spring ☔️🪻 approaches many people are being affected by chronic mold exposure🍄. Common symptoms of mold exposure are sinus issues, fatigue, migraines, headaches, brain fog, mood changes, joint pain etc.

Research has proven hyperbaric oxygen therapy to be an effective strategy to mitigate symptoms of mold exposure.

In this particular study, 15 adults between the ages of 18 and 58 received treatment. Researchers confirmed mold exposure in all patients, as well as exposure to mycotoxins and related byproducts. As a result, all participants became ill after exposure. All 15 patients developed clinical attention deficit disorder (ADD) after exposure, affecting their attention span and reaction time as determined by the administration of the TOVA test. After only 10 HBOT therapy sessions, all 15 patients experienced significant improvement in attention span and reaction time.

Going to be some great research coming out of USF Health!

On January 5th 2024 USF Health received $14 million grant from the Florida Legislature to study the effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for Florida veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder with traumatic brain injury.

Dementia treatment with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Alzheimers and amnestic mild cognitive impairment patients were treated with 40 minutes of hyperbaric oxygen once a day for 20 days and assessed by neuropsychiatric assessments including Mini‐Mental State Examination (MMSE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) scale before and at 1‐, 3‐, and 6‐month follow‐up after treatment.

Result: one course of hyperbaric oxygen treatment significantly improved the cognitive function assessed by MMSE and MoCA in Alzheimers patients after 1‐month follow‐up; such treatment also significantly improved MMSE score at 3‐month follow‐up and MoCA score at 1‐ and 3‐month follow‐up in aMCI patients. The ADL scale was significantly improved in Alzheimers patients after 1‐ and 3‐month follow‐up. Compared to the control Alzheimers patients, the MMSE and MoCA in hyperbaric oxygen treated Alzheimers patients were significantly improved after 1‐month follow‐up. Hyperbaric oxygen treatment also ameliorated the reduced brain glucose metabolism in some of the AD and aMCI patients.

Compelling research for concussion symptoms in kids (age 8-15)!

The children in the study suffered from persistent post concussion syndrome from a mild to moderate TBI event 6 months to 10 years prior.

25 children underwent 60 hours of Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy.

Statistically significant improvement was seen in:

🧠Cognitive function
📚 Memory
🥇Executive function
😡Emotional score
👾Decrease in hyperactivity
🔥Significant improvement in brain MRI micro-structural changes in the insula, supramarginal, lingual, inferior frontal and fusiform gyri.

Reversing Alzheimers & Dementia is becoming possible with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy!

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy improved cerebral blood flow by up to 23%, alleviating vascular dysfunction and amyloid burden in elderly patients. The treatment also improved memory by 16.5%.

"We report that HBOT improves CBF and cognitive function in both AD mice and elderly patients with significant memory loss. HBOT elevated CBF and reduced cerebral hypoxia by increasing blood vessel diameter. Furthermore, by tracking single plaques in vivo over weeks, we show for the first time that HBOT reduces the volume of pre-existing plaques and the appearance of newly-formed plaques."

Can Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Help Long C0vid patients?

This study analyzed 73 patients each receiving 40 sessions of HBOT.

Statistically significant improvement was shown in:

1. Energy
2. Sleep
3. Psychiatric Conditions
4. Pain

These results indicate that HBOT can induce neuroplasticity and improve cognitive, psychiatric, fatigue, sleep and pain symptoms of patients suffering from post-C0VID-19 condition.

Clinical outcomes were associated with significant improvement in brain MRI perfusion and microstructural changes in the supramarginal gyrus, left supplementary motor area, right insula, left frontal precentral gyrus, right middle frontal gyrus, and superior corona radiate.

The application of Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for autism is BOOMING! The research is pointing toward lack of blood flow to the temporal lobe of kids with autism. The mHBOT therapy provides an increase of blood flow to temporal lobe / whole cortex.

This particular study analyzed 62 kids with autism. The group was randomly assigned to either mHBOT or a control group who got in the hyperbaric chamber but not at therapeutic pressure. The treated group showed statistically significant improvement in:

1. Overall functioning
2. Receptive Language
3. Social Interaction
4. Eye Contact
5. Sensory / Cognitive Awareness

Great Study showing statistically significant improvement in patients who sustained head trauma and or PTSD from militia origin.
