Headstand gets a lot of attention—it looks bold.
But the real strength of this pose?
It comes from patience, prep, and staying grounded.

You don’t have to “nail” it today—or ever.
It’s not about getting upside down. It’s about learning how to show up with focus and care.

Try it like this (with a wall!):
👉 Start on your knees and clasp your hands, placing forearms shoulder-width apart
👉 Crown of the head lightly touches down between your hands—no weight on the neck
👉 Press into your forearms to lift your shoulders and protect your neck
👉 Walk your feet in slowly, keeping hips stacked over shoulders
👉 Stay here—or gently lift one leg at a time to find balance
👉 Use the wall for support—or keep both feet grounded and just breathe in the shape
👉 Keep the neck long, core engaged, and breath steady

Why this pose matters:
✅ Builds upper body and core strength
✅ Sharpens focus and mental clarity
✅ Builds trust—in your breath, your body, your process

Helpful tip:
Work near a wall for safety and confidence. Or skip the lift altogether and hold Dolphin Pose instead—it’s a powerful prep and a great practice all on its own.

Plow pose doesn’t ask you to do more—it asks you to do less.
To turn inward. To soften. To let go.

Plow can look intense, but at its heart, it’s a quiet fold.
A shape for slowing down, breathing deeper, and gently releasing what you’ve been carrying.

Try it like this:
👉 Start lying on your back, arms beside you
👉 Gently lift your legs up and over your head
👉 Rest your toes on the floor—or on a block, a cushion, or even the wall behind you
👉 Support your back with your hands, or let your arms stay on the mat
👉 Keep your neck still and chin slightly tucked—no turning the head
👉 Legs can be straight or bent—whichever helps you feel grounded and safe
👉 Stay for a few steady breaths—there’s no need to hold long

Why this pose matters:
✅ Gently stretches the spine and shoulders
✅ Calms the nervous system
✅ Helps release tension and mental fatigue
✅ Encourages reflection and rest

Helpful tip:
Try practicing near a wall—let your feet rest on it when they come over your head for extra support. It’s a great way to explore the shape without going too far.

DimitraYOGA is a community of yoga teachers, healers and students who are dedicated to promoting health, happiness and well being along the beaches and beyond. By building strength - mentally, physically and spiritually - we develop the ability to transform our perspective.

Our Lewes studio (near Five Points) has a full schedule of yoga classes and workshops most weekends off season. You’ll also find us in downtown Rehoboth Beach (1st block off the boards on the Avenue), where we offer mat and aerial yoga classes, as well as massage, shamanic healing, reiki, acupuncture and more!
