Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) has received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2025, becoming one of only 323 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor. This is the first time that Maury Regional has received the Platinum designation after previously earning gold in 2023 and 2024.

The award recognizes Maury Regional’s commitment to implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients as outlined by the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.

Marshall Medical Center (MMC) recently achieved accreditation in computed tomography (CT) by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is only awarded to facilities meeting ACR practice parameters and technical standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.

Maury Regional Health hosted a blessing event on July 8 to celebrate the completion of two new mother/baby rooms and a new labor and delivery room in the Women’s Center at Maury Regional Medical Center.

W. Cason Shirley, MD, recently performed his 2,000th robotic-arm assisted orthopedic procedure using Stryker’s Mako System for knee and hip replacements.

“Performing my 2,000th Mako robotic surgery is extremely rewarding,” said Dr. Shirley. “It is an honor to use this innovative technology that revolutionizes joint replacement surgeries in our region, allowing us to individually tailor surgical plans to our patients for better outcomes.”

Congratulations to Kevin Greene, BSN, RN, from 3W, for winning the DAISY Award!

“My mother passed away in April, but during her final days at Maury Regional, Kevin’s care made all the difference. From the moment he introduced himself, he showed genuine kindness and compassion and not only to my mother, but to our entire family. He took time to explain things, comforted us during difficult moments and never made us feel like a burden, even with other patients to care for. My mother felt at ease with him. She looked forward to seeing him each shift and even greeted him with a smile on one of her final days, saying, ‘Good morning, Kevin, I’m so glad to see you.’ His presence brought her peace, and his care brought us comfort. Marshall Medical Center has expanded its capabilities to better serve patients in the Lewisburg community by opening a second surgical suite, allowing for an increased number of endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures each week.

Endoscopy procedures, including colonoscopies, are available on Mondays and are performed by gastroenterologist Srikar S. Reddy, MD, of Maury Regional Medical Group (MRMG) Mid-South Gastroenterology.

“This expansion means we can care for more patients closer to home,” said Dr. Reddy. “Colonoscopy remains the most effective screening tool for colorectal cancer, and doubling our access to this procedure can help save lives through early detection.”

The Marshall Medical Center (MMC) laboratory program has been awarded reaccreditation by the Accreditation Committee of College of American Pathologists (CAP). This recertification comes after on-site inspections from the CAP Accreditation Committee earlier this year.

For nearly 10 years, Marshall Medical Center has helped seniors in the community address mental health challenges through its Senior Life Solutions program. Led by a licensed therapist with the support of a psychiatrist, this intensive outpatient program is designed to support adults aged 65 and older who are experiencing depression, anxiety, grief or other emotional challenges.

“Senior Life Solutions has truly been a lifeline for many in our community,” said Todd Fehrman, licensed professional counselor (LPC) at Marshall Medical Center who helps lead Senior Life Solutions. “Our goal is to help seniors regain their sense of purpose and improve their quality of life through mental health counseling and support.”

Senior Life Solutions provides a range of services, including individual, group and family therapy, psychiatric evaluations and medication management. Experts will refer patients to any additional resources that may be helpful. Tele-therapy services are also available, allowing patients to receive support in the comfort of their own homes.

Marshall Medical Center was proud to partner with local health care teams to provide free sports physicals for 543 middle and high school student-athletes in Marshall County this spring.

The sports physicals were provided by physicians, advanced practice providers and staff members from Marshall Medical Center, Lewisburg Family Practice, Lewisburg Pediatrics and Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance Columbia - TOA Columbia.
