The Maury Regional Health Care Foundation, in collaboration with Maury Regional Health, is helping local stroke patients and their families by sponsoring the Retreat & Refresh Stroke Camp. The camp is designed to offer a weekend away from home to improve the quality of life for stroke survivors, caregivers and their families. Nancee Fortner, a past participant at the stroke camp, found it to be one of the most rewarding experiences she has had since her stroke in 2022 and has returned to the camp three times.

“I learned about the stroke camp through the Stroke Support Group at Maury Regional,” said Fortner. “I was reluctant to go at first, but a friend encouraged me. It’s nice to connect with others who understand what you are going through. I got so inspired by being with stroke survivors, and my friend observed that I seemed happier after attending. I appreciate the Foundation for making it possible for me to have a brighter future.”

The next scheduled Retreat & Refresh Stroke camp is October 17-19 at Pickwick Landing State Park in Counce, Tennessee. This camp is the only one in Tennessee and one of only two in the southeast United States. Maury Regional Medical Center has earned the gold seal accreditation in computed tomography (CT) from the American College of Radiology® (ACR) for abdomen, cardiac, chest, head and neck CT imaging. The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation is awarded to facilities who meet specific ACR practice parameters and technical standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists from ACR, who are experts in the field.

The Heart Failure Support Group meets on the last Tuesday (8/26) of each month beginning in February. It will meet from 5PM to 6PM at the Maury Regional Annex conference room across the street from the hospital.

Marshall Medical Center has expanded its capabilities to better serve patients in the Lewisburg community by opening a second surgical suite, allowing for an increased number of endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures each week.

Endoscopy procedures, including colonoscopies, are available on Mondays and are performed by gastroenterologist Srikar S. Reddy, MD, of Maury Regional Medical Group (MRMG) Mid-South Gastroenterology.

“This expansion means we can care for more patients closer to home,” said Dr. Reddy. “Colonoscopy remains the most effective screening tool for colorectal cancer, and doubling our access to this procedure can help save lives through early detection.”

The Marshall Medical Center (MMC) laboratory program has been awarded reaccreditation by the Accreditation Committee of College of American Pathologists (CAP). This recertification comes after on-site inspections from the CAP Accreditation Committee earlier this year.

For nearly 10 years, Marshall Medical Center has helped seniors in the community address mental health challenges through its Senior Life Solutions program. Led by a licensed therapist with the support of a psychiatrist, this intensive outpatient program is designed to support adults aged 65 and older who are experiencing depression, anxiety, grief or other emotional challenges.

“Senior Life Solutions has truly been a lifeline for many in our community,” said Todd Fehrman, licensed professional counselor (LPC) at Marshall Medical Center who helps lead Senior Life Solutions. “Our goal is to help seniors regain their sense of purpose and improve their quality of life through mental health counseling and support.”

Senior Life Solutions provides a range of services, including individual, group and family therapy, psychiatric evaluations and medication management. Experts will refer patients to any additional resources that may be helpful. Tele-therapy services are also available, allowing patients to receive support in the comfort of their own homes.

Marshall Medical Center was proud to partner with local health care teams to provide free sports physicals for 543 middle and high school student-athletes in Marshall County this spring.

The sports physicals were provided by physicians, advanced practice providers and staff members from Marshall Medical Center, Lewisburg Family Practice, Lewisburg Pediatrics and Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance Columbia - TOA Columbia.

Marshall Medical Center has proudly provided sports physicals for Marshall County athletes since 2008. Thank you to everyone who attended or volunteered their time!
