Celebrating 40+ Years of Caring for Our Town
In 1980, the Lewisburg Foundation was created to help guide the future of our downtown. With the expansion of I‑64 and new retail shifting toward the interstate, our once‑bustling center of pharmacies, grocers, hardware stores and family‑run shops faced big changes. The Foundation worked closely with city leaders and the merchants association to build a plan that would keep downtown vibrant, welcoming and full of life.
More than four decades later, that mission continues. Today, the Lewisburg Foundation operates as a beautification organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the unique character of our historic town. Our work supports regional tourism by caring for the gardens and green spaces that greet visitors at every entrance to the historic district. The charm people feel when they arrive in Lewisburg is no accident — it’s the result of steady, year‑round care.
We maintain gardens throughout downtown and in parks at the north, south, east and west gateways. Our modest annual budget covers mowing, fertilizing, watering, pruning, replacing, mulching, weeding and planting trees, shrubs, turf, perennials and seasonal annuals each spring and fall. As a nonprofit, we are funded by gifts from members, friends of Lewisburg and private foundations. Special capital projects are supported through grants or dedicated gifts, including opportunities for honorary plantings or memorial benches.
If you love Lewisburg’s beauty, we invite you to be part of this ongoing effort. Every contribution — large or small — helps us keep our historic town blooming for generations to come. 🌿✨
