Another New Day Scar Work and Muscle Therapy

Another New Day Scar Work and Muscle Therapy Work with clients to help release restrictions due to natural and surgical scars as well as potentia The client is 100% responsible for their own health.

Muscles have referred pain patterns which could be heat, cool, tingling, and pain. The cause of the issue is not always where one feels the pain. We will explore causes stemming from the physical, emotional, and the chemical causes; using tools like vacuum therapy, NMT, CranialSacral Therapy, muscle energy techniques, Heart Centered Therapy, EFT. My role is to help be a catalyst to positive change, to be an educator, and support without removing responsibility.

I love scarwork but sadly I have done a poor job of getting the word out about how important it is for those suffering from scar restrictions and discomfort post surgery. I am accepting new scar work clients.

Aside, I was recently asked if I knew anyone who does scarwork in another state. If Lewiston, ME is too far for your to come for scarwork, please explore this limited list of other areas to find a therapist. The group/page is in the UK but you can search the US as well.

I have been bad about taking before and after photos of clients requesting scarwork. This woman broke her ankle which then required surgery. No weight bearing and then a boot. She had not had a normal gate for months. She reported horrendous pain in her foot, which limited her ability to walk. And yes she has more scarwork to do but most of her pain really has been from facially bound up tissue from immobiliation. Her ankle, calf, and knee felt like a solid mass. She could use more Scarwork but my main focus has been to help her get mobility restored and reduce/eliminate discomfort. Hard to assess the restrictions caused by the scar when the soft tissue was so bound up.

Charlotte NC - Drake Advanced Myofascial Bodywork is running a Scarwork clinic for new Scarwork students to practice new skills. They are looking for models for the clinic. If you have a scar(s) and living in the area, check to see if you might be a good candidate. I wish I could be there but difficult to leave my new dog. I don’t have the heart to board my tripod shelter dog. I LOVE Scarwork but adore my Teddy.

Volunteers need for our May 1-4th ScarWork seminar. Priority is given to untreated scars, and scars that are complex, and have pain and movement limits created from (but not limited to) complications of healing, trauma, infections, delayed wound closure. Please send us an email to express your interest and receive more information about this opportunity. Space is limited. We cannot usually take all volunteers. #

Scarwork class (Oct 26th and 27th) still looking for models for student clinic. Scarwork is gentle work that helps reorganize soft tissue to improve mobility, reduce sensitivity, and often reduce appearance of the scar. The scar must be completely healed, no scab or weeping. Scars can be new or old. I have worked on many old scars. One example was 20 yrs old and the person was told by their doctor that they just had to live with the discomfort. That is not always true. Examples of clients who can benefit from scarwork include post open heart surgery, joint surgeries (knee, hip, shoulder, etc), c-section, abdominal surgeries, liposuction, spinal surgeries, breast reconstruction or reduction, scars as a result of accidents, etc.

There are still openings for a few more models, especially for Sunday, October 27th, but there is room for additional models in the Saturday clinics as well. If you are interested in helping the clinic or have questions, message me and I will send you the contact information to sign up. If you have scars that need help but don't want to be part of a free clinic, if do provide scarwork as part of my massage practice (Another New Day Scar Work and Muscle Therapy). I love scars.

Here are the clinic times:

Clinic #1 - Saturday, October 26th from 10am - 12:30pm
Clinic #2 - Saturday, October 26th from 2:30pm - 5pm
Clinic #3 - Sunday, October 27th from 10am - 12:30pm

I am working my way through the process of becoming an assistant teacher for Molly Hackett Scarwork class (Absolutely love scar work... it is so rewarding). I will be auditing the Lewiston class as my next step. I encourage all massage therapist to take this Scarwork class. It is an amazing tool to help clients.

Dempsey Center is hosting the class and recruiting models for the Scarwork Class in Lewiston. Models do not have to have cancer or be a part of Dempsey center. Looking for people who have surgical scars or scars from accidents, that are limiting them in some way (pain and or limited mobility). (Not sure if they have enough people to run another class (Lewiston class is sold out), but possibly a 2nd class the next weekend in Portland.). Will put a link in the comments to the class signup for those interested in the Portland class Oct31-Nov 3.

summary:
Clinic times are as follows:

Clinic #1 - Saturday, October 26th from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Clinic #2 - Saturday, October 26th from 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM
Clinic #3 - Sunday, October 27th from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM

If you, or someone you know, might benefit from the being a model during the scarwork clinics, please message me and I can forward you information on how to sign up.
thank you
Nancy

Getting to be that time of year that people are more aware of the need to add electrolytes. Being Keto/Carnivore, make this even more important for me. I find it has improved my sleep, as well as improved my energy. My favorite electrolyte support is DrinkLMNT powder added to water. I make a large 32 oz jar and either drink a cup every hour until gone or alternate sipping on it with my regular water intake. I also use the chocolate version to make yummy butter bites. Can't wait to try the premixed can of sparkling drink. If you order from them directly and use my referral link you will get a free sample package with any order.

Hey, if you're ever looking for Drink LMNT, Inc. products, check out Drink LMNT, Inc. -

New offering:

SCARWORK ScarWork is an integrative, gentle, and non-invasive therapy that helps resolve tissue related issues as a result of both surgical and/or injury related scars. Scars are a natural part of the healing process as a result of cuts, burns, and/or abrasions. The body lays down tissue as quickly as possible to fill in the gap and support the break. The rapid repair can lead to disorganized and thick tissue that can start to restrict movement and form disfigurements like bumps, gaps, ridges, holes. Some people experience pain from restricted movement and nerve entrapment. Scar work redirects and mends the layers of tissues to allow for freer movement, less discomfort. Most notice a permanent improvement in appearance of the scar. Scarwork can be effective for very old scars as well as new ones. Many seek this work for smoother cosmetic effect, and have been surprised by how much looser and better they feel. Some don’t know how restricted they were until they are not any more.
