Yesterday's Yoga Outdoors adventure brought us to Fernald's Neck Preserve in Lincolnville. What an incredibly beautiful snowshoe experience in a winter wonderland! These wonderful souls snowshoed 3.6 miles! Not an easy feat! But who could be sad when you had the kind of Breathtakingly gorgeous views with nice temperatures and a bluebird sky
We started the day before hitting the trail, at 10am-ish with a little Kapha-pacifying warm fruit compote. We consumed pungent spices- cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg and astringent fruits- cranberries, pomegranate seeds, apples, pears, and then a "dollop of ojas" (vital sap support) and a bit of sweetness in the form of 2 dates to create the "ah" affect. Later when we completed the hike the group was given the third Kapha-pacifying taste- bitter- in the form of our Homemade chai tea, with another option of raw cacao warm drink. Perfect end to an outstanding day. :-)
On the trail, we talked about Kapha season and the difference between a Vata snow- airy and dry- & Kapha snow- heavy, dense, & moist. Aa the new falken snow melted under the sunlight, it dropped like whipped cream snowballs onto our shoulders and heads while we broke trail. Eventually some if us did break into a little snowball fun....
We managed to snowshoe flat some space at the overlook of Mt. Meginticook for our Snowga and our lunch, and then we found some trees to rest against in our tree meditation, where we focused on connecting to and reflecting on the energies of our trees. The Blue and Orange Trails were varied and simply breathtaking. So happy we got to enjoy this wonderful adventure in a magical space! A few of us were even blessed to see a deer running into the deepest part of the trail. So beautiful!
After a little over 4 hours of fun moving through the Preserve, we concluded the event with our traditional YOC (Yoga Outdoors Club) tailgate party before heading home to hot showers and warm dinners. A good day to move, breathe, and return to our primordial selves. Join us next time!
