Established in 1891, Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) is a 250 bed tertiary care hospital and trauma center located in Lewiston, Maine. CMMC is home to Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute (CMHVI), the three-year Family Medicine Residency Program, and is one of two bases for LifeFlight of Maine (the State of Maine’s only air medicine program owned by Central Maine Healthcare and Eastern Maine Healthcare in Bangor). With its large and growing number of primary care providers, including internal medicine, family practice, pediatrics, NPs and PAs, the hospital also includes more than forty medical and surgical specialties.

💗 Wrapping up Breast Cancer Awareness Month with gratitude.

Our teams from the Bennett Breast Care Center and CMH Breast Health came together this month for a free screening and awareness event at CMMC — providing 49 patients with mammograms and reminders of how important early detection can be.

It was a day filled with care, connection, and hope. Thank you to everyone who helped make it possible and to those who came out to take charge of their health.

💕 If you’re over 40, now’s the time to schedule your annual mammogram. Early detection saves lives!

🕯 Tonight at 7:24 p.m., we’ll pause for a moment of silence at Central Maine Medical Center — the exact time the first patient arrived in our ambulance bay on October 25, 2023.

That was the moment your emergency doctors, nurses, trauma surgeons, and medical team sprang into action with calm and steady expertise. In the minutes, hours, days, and months that followed, their skill and teamwork saved 13 lives.

We mark 7:24 p.m. as the moment healing began that night, and that is what we choose to remember.

We are standing strong with you, Lewiston. Taking a deep collective breath. And remembering.

To our colleagues at CMMC, to the first responders who stood beside us, to the patients who trusted us, and to the community who carried us — we are here with you as the candles in the window over the Emergency Department light our way again on this dark night.💙

Lewiston, two years later, we still hold you close. We remember the lives that were lost, the families forever changed, and we are deeply grateful for the 13 lives saved here at Central Maine Medical Center.

That night and in the days that followed, our caregivers stood shoulder to shoulder with this community, doing what they were called to do: protect, heal, and bring hope in the face of tragedy.

Your doctors, nurses, friends, family, and neighbors are here with you, Lewiston, just like we were when you needed us most. 💙

Our CMMC team was happy to be part of Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce's Taste the Harvest again this year, supporting local farmers, small businesses, and the community we’re proud to call home.

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Anna Gervais to the Central Maine Obstetrics-Gynecology team at CMMC! 💙

Dr. Gervais cares for patients through every stage of life, from annual wellness visits to prenatal care and delivery. She’s passionate about helping women feel informed, supported, and confident in their care.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Dr. Gervais attended Allegheny College and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, then completed her residency at Cooper University Hospital.
