One Text or Call could make a difference:
Temperatures are expected to hit 95 degrees on Tuesday! You will see people in doorways, standing in medians, aimlessly walking through the streets, or finding whatever shade they can. Once temperatures exceed 89 degrees, heat stroke becomes a serious concern for those exposed to the elements.
When we see our unhoused members on the streets in these conditions, we have a choice: stop to offer assistance or continue on with our day. We understand some of the concerns people have and potential risks with engaging strangers on the streets, so we have a solution:
Drop us a text or call 207-577-7942! We will go pick up the individual/individuals and bring them to one of the Emergency Cooling Center locations.
