Life has come full circle!

Our grandson (Emmett and I) will be starting his first of lacrosse as a peanut player. He'll be playing for Tuscarora Tomahawks - in the NAMLA league which his Bubba was a founding member.

Prior to North American Minor Lacrosse Association (NAMLA) - box lacrosse was only available in Canada

Emmett played an instrumental role in starting box lacrosse on the stateside, to give those youth who werent able (for whatever reason) to play in Canada. In 2004 NAMLA was born and Emmett and I ran the program from 2004 - 2020, when the pandemic hit.

In 2021, Emmett suffered a stroke and has been battling asphasia since. A new group of people took over the program, renamed it Tuscarora Tomahawks and have continued to make box lacrosse available to local youth.

In 2004, our children were still children themselves. Grandchildren werent even a thought back then. How awesome it is to see the foundation laid out by Emmett be here all these years later for his grandson.

We can't wait to watch him play. Go Emerett!! Totah & Bubba ❤

Thank you to all who participated in our Tuscarora Thunder youth lacrosse program in the past. We enjoyed our time with you on the field, in ther stands, at concessions and away games and hope you all.had fun!

Hi Everyone,

We'd like to take this time to give thanks to all the volunteers, coaches, refs, players, team moms and everyone who helped cut grass, repair the box and bleachers and helped in any way.

Tuscarora Thunder started out in 2004. We were called Niagara Devil Dogs and played out of Hyde Park starting with only 2 teams, bantam and midget. It was Emmett's dream to build a box on the rez and bring lacrosse back for the youth. He realized that many kids were left out of playing in Canada due to financial issues and he wanted to give those kids a chance to play. Emmett built the outdoor lacrosse box himself with his own funds and changed the name from Devil Dogs to Tuscarora Thunder and in 2006, we had our first home game at the newly built Lacrosse Park on the Tuscarora reservation, with Emmett coaching and me running the concession stand. We quickly added 5 more teams, including peanuts, tyke, novice, peewee and intermediate age groups in the lineup.

Over the years, we saw many kids go from playing minors to playing at the college level, including a few that played D1 and are now playing professionally. It was an honor to watch your growth and we are proud of you.

For those that aren't aware, Emmett suffered a stroke in April 2021. While it affected his communication and fine motor skills, his gross motor skills were still intact and he still had his medicine........Lacrosse. He was still able to pass and catch and it was so good to see him doing that with our son. He is currently still recovering and making progress and continues to watch lacrosse whenever he can.

As we hang up our youth lacrosse program hats, we are excited to watch the next generation continue the program for the youth. It is a lot of work, but it is fun and exciting to watch.

Emmett and I now move into our next chapter of life, as grandparents. We have 5 grandchildren now and we look forward to spending summers with them, camping, swimming, cookouts and making new memories. Of course we'll be front row in the stands watching our grandsons when they start playing.
