Getting to be that time of year that people are more aware of the need to add electrolytes. Being Keto/Carnivore, make this even more important for me. I find it has improved my sleep, as well as improved my energy. My favorite electrolyte support is DrinkLMNT powder added to water. I make a large 32 oz jar and either drink a cup every hour until gone or alternate sipping on it with my regular water intake. I also use the chocolate version to make yummy butter bites. Can't wait to try the premixed can of sparkling drink. If you order from them directly and use my referral link you will get a free sample package with any order.

My favorite self support is water, magnesium, and Vit D. Secondary is Vit A, full spectrum Vit E, Vit K2, and high dose melatonin. But there is no magic bullet and what is good for me, might not be good for you. If one has thyroid issues, I have been told it is better to address a selenium deficiency before exploring an iodine deficiency. Iodine supplementation can mask a selenium deficiency.

In my clinical experience, most people with Hashimoto’s have a deficiency in selenium, and being deficient in this key thyroid nutrient is a very common and widely recognized trigger of autoimmune thyroid conditions! Research suggests that thyroid disease is linked to selenium deficiency.

🌟 This key nutrient is involved in the conversion of T4 to T3, and is protective of our thyroid and immune system.

🌟 It has been found that supplementing with selenium at a therapeutic dose can reduce thyroid antibodies, reduce thyroid symptoms, and improve overall well-being.

Check out this article for more information: https://thyroidpharmacist.com/articles/selenium-deficiency-and-hashimotos/

Do you know someone who has taken selenium supplements for their Hashimoto’s symptoms? How did selenium make them feel?

Pain is important as part of the healing process. Pain is real and should not be dismissed. Pain is not due to tissue damage. Bold statement but there are 2 good examples the speaker goes into to regarding pain. Case 1, man had a spike through his boot. None of the medications he was given could lessen the incredible pain he was experiencing. When they finally got the boot off, it was discovered the spike went between the toes. He did not even have a scratch. No tissue damage but excessive pain. Case 2, man went to an Emergency Room complaining of blurred vision and headache. Short story, he had a knife blade in his head. Excessive tissue damage and little to no pain. Watch video to see xray of head.

The science is never settled. When I went to massage school it was believed that massage spread cancer and should never be done. It was believed that a massage therapist could damage nerves by massaging sensitive areas like armpit, forearm, back of knee, etc. AND NOW, there are modalities that specialize in cancer massage and "nerve work".

There are many factors that can increase or decrease pain. Learn about danger signals and safety signals. We need a new multi-approach strategy to manage pain.

Hyper-mobility (aka bendy)...

Not everyone who is super flexible has other issues, but of these bendy people there is a group of them who have EDS Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. EDS diagnosed individuals have some or all of the following issues: body pain (some are misdiagnosed as having fibromyalgia) , gut issues (many test negative for celiac but do much better on a gluten free diet), joints (snap, crackle, pop), skin is loose, POTs (postural orthostatic tachycardia... aka dizzy when standing), anxiety, etc. My observation is that most tend to be cold, and yet the talk, I have posted, says heat is an issue.

Beware that the speaker is not a professional speaker... if you can get passed the ummms (which honestly gave me a headache) there is good information. I learned something new... bleeding is another symptom... thus excessive bruising might be an issue. I would love to do a study with EDS patients and the extra Vit C and see if it helps reduce bleeding.

Last fall I had a strong challenge with combatting Cv. (Oct into Nov 2021). I still have not regained my sense of smell. About 8 weeks post recovery my hair started falling out at a rapid rate. There is a video by Dr Ben Lynch about Cv and hair loss. I was taking all the recommended supplement like zinc except Folinic Acid (which is NOT Folic Acid). I have genes that challenge my methylation process. I normally take methylfolate when taking B9. Shortly after taking it (along with using MONAT hair care) my hair stopped falling out and new hair growth is appearing.

Many have been confused because most people think that folic acid is folate. Here is a good video to explain the difference. Note synthetic is "man made" and not natural.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E23CEc2eEgk

Side note... I have had a friend with the hair loss issue but folinic acid did not work for her. Same with my sense of smell; I have tried many remedies that have helped others but have yet to work for me. All we can do is try (stuff that does no harm).

Vitamin B9--Folate vs Folic AcidFolate is the natural form found in green leafy vegetables, yeast, avocados, fish and organ meats. **several glutamate residu...

Magnesium... best kept secret in nutrition.

Magnesium is an important nutrient, but many of us are deficient. Not only does it impact more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body— including maintaining nerve and muscle function, supporting a healthy immune system, and keeping the heartbeat steady —- but it’s also crucial for thyroid health.

🔹 Magnesium is crucial for over 300 essential bodily functions, including keeping our hearts beating steadily and balancing blood sugar levels.

🔹 Those of us with Hashimoto’s are at greater risk for being deficient in this essential mineral. Supplementing with magnesium can relieve many common symptoms associated with thyroid dysfunction.

🔹 In my experience, magnesium has helped eliminate menstrual cramps and reduce anxiety. Others have experienced relief from headaches, muscle aches, insomnia, acid reflux, and heart palpitations.

🔹 Most of us are unable to get enough magnesium from diet alone, and supplementation is often recommended.

Check out my recent article to learn more: https://thyroidpharmacist.com/articles/new-studies-on-magnesium-and-thyroid-health/

Do you take a magnesium supplement? If so, which form have you taken? Has it relieved any of your thyroid symptoms?
