I used to work out 13 times a week… and felt like 💩 in my body.

2018:
Eating clean
Teaching group fitness nonstop
Pushing harder
Running a wellness studio, a household and travel sports life

50–60 hour work weeks. Always on.

Looking back…
I was inflamed.
Exhausted.
Joints ached.

And honestly?
DisconnectedAF.

I had to give myself pep talks in the bathroom before class.

Because I was fighting my body… not working with it.

I didn’t trust my body.
I overrode it.

I didn’t understand:
Perimenopause
Cortisol
Hormonal shifts
What my body actually needed

Now?

I work with my body.
I train for muscle.
I support my hormones.
I regulate my cortisol.

Macros matter, but so do micronutrients, blood sugar, gut, thyroid and liver health.

The result?
Yes. I’m leaner.
Yes. I have more muscle.

I have the capacity to live my life.

Your “core workouts” aren’t building a core.

Your core isn’t just “abs.”

It’s your entire support system:
Deep transverse abdominis (your internal corset)
Obliques
Low back
Pelvic floor

Its job?
To resist movement. Stabilize it.
Not just create it.

That’s why exercises like this matter:
👉 Captain’s chair leg lifts → control + lower core
👉 Overhead march → anti-extension + stability under load
👉 KB swings → power + core bracing
👉 Commando plank → anti-rotation + control

This is functional core training.

Meaning:
You can lift heavier
Move better
Protect your spine
Support your hormones + metabolism (yes, really)

Because a strong core = a stronger body.

And here’s the shift:
It’s not about doing more reps.

It’s about:
Control
Tension
Bracing
Intent

Slow it down.
Add load.
Stabilize.
