That the Huntingdon Borough Police Department Has a Forensic Co-Responder..
The Huntingdon Borough Police Department is proud to partner with the Center for Community Resources to provide a Forensic Co-Responder Program—bringing mental health and wraparound support directly into police response. What initially began as a Mental Health Co-Responder, has expanded to provided more services and options.
👩⚕️ Meet Our Co-Responder: Kiele Hawke

Kiele holds a Master’s Degree in forensic psychology and brings extensive experience in the mental health field. She works directly out of the police department and responds alongside officers to a wide range of calls within our community.
💡 A Comprehensive, Wraparound Approach
In addition to her behavioral health expertise, Kiele brings a vast network of connections across a wide range of community resources—extending well beyond mental health services. This allows for a holistic, wraparound approach to supporting individuals and families, while partner agencies remain focused on their specific roles. Kiele can provide support through co-response in the moment or through continued follow-up as needed.
💡 What Does a Co-Responder Do?
Kiele provides immediate, compassionate support by:
🔹 Conducting mental health assessments
🔹 Connecting individuals with appropriate services and resources
🔹 Offering one-on-one emotional support and crisis debriefings
🔹 Collaborating with community agencies to ensure the best care
🔹 Assisting in diverting criminal charges when appropriate—focusing on treatment over punishment
🧩 The Co-Responder Can Assist With:
▪️ Mental health-related incidents (adult and juvenile)
▪️ Crisis intervention and service coordination
▪️ Assistance with the 302 involuntary commitment process
▪️ Serving as a liaison with Penn Highlands Healthcare
▪️ Support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault—during investigations and throughout the court process, including referrals to appropriate services
▪️ Referrals and coordination for elderly and vulnerable adults
▪️ Ongoing follow-up to promote long-term stability and connection to resources

The Co-Responder Program has been recognized by the Bureau of Justice as a high-quality model. Kiele and fellow co-responders presented at the National Co-Responder Conference in Omaha, Nebraska—highlighting the impact of this important work.

Her work supports not only individuals in crisis, but also our officers—allowing them to focus on public safety while ensuring those in need receive the care and support they deserve.
