What have we been up to?

Kensey and Regan attended a weekend course in Missoula titled "Athletic Low Back Pain: A Principles Based Approach to Conservative Management and Return to Sport," presented by Rehab Renaisannce. The course focused on evidence-based strategies and techniques for enhancing recovery and safely returning athletes to sport. Unfortunately, recurrence rate of low back pain in athletes is high. We want to make sure that athletes with low back pain are screened and trained appropriately before they return to their sport so that they can fully participate and not re-injure themselves! Remember, we can all be athletes in whatever we do, and we are happy to help you along the way!

Are you scheduled for an upcoming knee replacement? What should you expect following surgery?

You will start physical therapy within 3-4 days following surgery. For the first couple of weeks, you will be using a walker to help with walking and mobility. Our biggest goal in therapy for the first couple of weeks is to work on managing pain and swelling and restoring range of motion. As this improves, your therapist will gradually work on improving strength, proprioception, and functional mobility.

Will I ever be able to get down on the floor again to play with my grandkids or work in the garden? Absolutely! Just because you have had a knee replacement doesn't mean that you won't be able to kneel again or get up and down from the floor. Everyone recovers differently, but our goal is to help you return to as much of a normal lifestyle as possible.

If you are scheduled for a knee replacement or have questions or concerns about your upcoming surgery, feel free to give us a call!
