It’s been the SNUGGLIEST week in speech! Maybe it’s that we are all tired of winter. Maybe it’s just not enough rest happening. But my vote is for the sweet combination of one-on-one rapport and the richness of books. I use books in every single speech session, and the speechies come to anticipate and love this special time shared. Joint book reading will always be my favorite therapy activity and recommendation to families!

When you have a generous friend who shares mini pumpkins with you “for your speech kids,” and it coincides perfectly with the pumpkin theme you have planned for the week! They LOVED each getting to pick out a mini pumpkin to take home, and it was so fun to talk about the process from seeds to sprouts to harvest to the pumpkin in their hands with a few of our very favorite books (especially “The Little Pumpkin Book” and “Seed, Sprout, Pumpkin, Pie”). We love fall, and we love speech!

It’s “Fire Safety” week and J’s number puzzle is just one of many activities we have provided this week to educate our speechies while practicing speech skills! We have also enjoyed fire station books, games, crafts, and play with a Little People fire station and manipulatives. Whether therapy is taking place in a child care center, home, school, or library, it’s all grins and fun. And arm tattoos (“I have more on my belly,” he said 🥰).
