Living with an autoimmune condition can make staying active feel overwhelming, but Pilates offers a low-impact, full-body approach that truly supports the body. After my arthritis and raynaud’s diagnosis last year, I was so grateful to already have Pilates as a way to keep moving without adding strain, pain, or limitations—rather, something that actively supports mobility and pain management.

As a former athlete, I never imagined a time when movement would feel restricted. Yet for years now, Pilates has been the one form of exercise that both challenges me and feels genuinely beneficial to my body! It’s changed my life in many ways. 🤍

I’ve also had the privilege of working with many members managing autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto’s, Lupus, RA, POTS, and more. While not an autoimmune condition, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) deserves mention as well and I’ve seen incredible benefits there, too. Time and again, I’ve witnessed meaningful wins: reduced pain, improved mobility, and an overall stronger sense of well-being.

Pilates doesn’t just support the body it also supports the mind. It has been an incredibly powerful tool in healing and in improving quality of life. We want to take a moment to speak directly to every person who walks through our doors whether you’re brand-new to movement, returning after time away, or showing up during a season when caring for your body feels harder than usual.

You do not have to earn your food, your rest, or your place in this studio.

Somewhere along the way, so many of us were taught that movement is a debt we pay…
that meals are something we have to “balance out”…
that rest must be justified…
that our worth is tied to how hard we push.

But that is not what we believe here.
And that is not the culture we are building at Pilates Barre Lex.

When you step into this space, you’re not entering a place that asks you to shrink, hustle, or compensate.
You’re entering a space that sees you — your whole self — and honors the season you’re in.

We move to feel connected.
We move to feel supported.
We move to feel strong, capable, and held.
Not to make up for a meal.
Not to “fix” anything.
Not to earn what you already deserve.

Food is nourishment.

You don’t have to have it all together to show up.

Some days you move with ease, some days you just breathe and begin again.

Both count. Both matter. Both are enough. 🤍

Strength doesn’t always look like power moves or perfect form — sometimes, it looks like just showing up.

Movement is meant to meet you where you are.

ALWAYS.

Maybe the goal isn’t to push harder.
Maybe it’s to move slower, breathe deeper, and listen a little closer to what your body’s been trying to tell you.
