You see that man on the corner begging for money? Maybe he is just going to spend it on alcohol or drugs. But maybe he’s hungry. Maybe he’s never touched a drop of alcohol in his life. Maybe, like so many others, a year ago he was laid off from a job he had invested 20 years of sweat equity into due to the pandemic turning our economy upside down. Maybe he just needs a little help, like most everyone has at some point down our paths. I don’t care about your political or religious affiliations or beliefs. At the end of the day, we are all human beings. We NEED connection to one another. We need each other, now more than ever. So take the change that’s been sitting in your cup holder for 2 months and get the guy a burger. Men, hold the door for women and children they way you’re supposed to. Help an elderly person across the street. If you see a veteran, thank them. If you walk past a police officer, sheriff, or EMS in the supermarket, thank them for your service. Despite what the media has you believe, they are the first ones you call in an emergency and the first ones to pull your child from a burning wreck. We are all just imperfect humans trying to navigate the mess our world is in. Together, we can do it.
