We are really enjoying Teen and Adult Social Music Therapy on Thursdays! Participants have been getting to know more about each other every week, making music together, and enjoying each other's company.

We have room for two more friends to join us; we've got four more meetings: https://wildwoodmusictherapy.as.me/14AndUpSocialMusic

Our welcome song is Swifty inspired to the tune of Welcome to New York:
🎵 Wakin’ up this morning, ready to go
Jumpin’ in the car to head to music group
Everybody here wanted somethin' more
Searchin' for a friend we didn’t know before
And they said

Welcome to Music, we’ve been waitin' for you
Welcome to Music, Welcome to Music
Welcome to Music, we’ve been waitin' for you
Welcome to Music, Welcome to Music

It's a new soundtrack, makin’ music to this beat, beat
Grab your drums and a friend and come with me
Welcome to Music, we’ve been waitin' for you
Welcome to Music, Welcome to Music 🎵

Last week I had such a great time being part of 's Art's Camp! I snagged this video from the music therapist/teacher perspective while the kids bravely faced the audience and performed their version of Charlotte's Web. This is a clip of our Welcome Song, a rewrite of Born This Way by Lady Gaga that I learned from our intern, Jen. So proud of you all!

Throwback to Ukulele and Instrument Exploration camp from the beginning of July! A small but mighty trio of girls joined us, became fast friends, and formed the ukulele group "The Abracadabras."

Campers learned seven chords on the ukulele, plus some keyboard, drum set, and xylophone skills which they shared with family and friends in a concert at the end of the week. Good work, friends! 🎵

Stay tuned for future ukulele opportunities in the Fall!

Happy 4th Birthday to Wildwood! 😊

Wildwood has grown gradually and slowly, but I like to celebrate our birthday on July 15th because that was the date of our first official client session through Wildwood Music Therapy. We didn't have our own space yet and I was teaching covid-safe piano lessons on front porches and in Woodland park, but it was a start!

Running a business is weird and hard, but I'm so thankful for the opportunities to do work I love, meet and work with so many great people, and the personal growth that has come from figuring out how to deal with uncertainty, constantly learn new things, and carrying responsibility in a healthy way.

So much love to all the music therapists on our team for continuing to accompany me on this journey and putting good into the world through your work. And a huge thank you to our communities and clients who give us the privilege to be part of your lives. 💚💚💚

We're still having a blast at Summer camp! Seeing our campers each week gives us a chance to build on skills across the Summer. This camp has been working on moving with the parachute as a team and following cues to change the way we move. This week campers practiced listening carefully for musical cues for moving clockwise, shaking, turning to move counterclockwise, and lifting the parachute up and down -- they rocked it! 🎶
