The KY Music Therapy Task Force has been working closely with the bi-partisan legislators that have sponsored SB 21! This bill would recognize our "MT-BC" credential (Music Therapist - Board Certified) in the commonwealth and help create more access to person-centered music therapy.

Recognition of the MT-BC and protection of the term "music therapy" also helps protect service recipients like you! Better understanding of terminology ensures that people are receiving music therapy from someone who has completed (and stays current with) the education and training to practice professionally.

Music engagement activates diverse areas of the brain, so it's a powerful tool in neuro rehab!

Pictured here are a couple of patients, their SLP, and just a few of our tools: color coded keyboard and xylophone, frame drums, rhythm sticks, and accessibly printed lyrics.

Bright Beginnings is back for 2026, but with some changes. Classes will be held on every-other Tuesday, and will now be designed to include bilingual songs and activities throughout the session. We are excited to see old and new faces for this new program!

Heard lots of "boos" yesterday because it was the last day of our therapeutic recreation choir and ukulele classes of the year, but also lots of excitement for our performance on Saturday! So grateful for the opportunity to make music and have the best time with these folks all year long!

Ear training in action! This sibling duo arrived at the studio excited about the next season of Stranger Things - a perfect opportunity to incorporate student interests into their piano lessons. They left talking about practicing together at home! 😊🎹

In all the excitement, I forgot to take a group picture at this weekend's recital, but we were able to snag these candid shots from a couple of attendees! What a great afternoon of music making. I love our little community and spending this time together each year. Thank you to all for your support and thank you to all our performers for sharing your music with us!
