Have you thought about, “how will I know if I found the doula for me?”
Well there are some things to look for when choosing your doula.
1. They are a great listener. They don’t act impatient, zone out while you’re talking, and they make sure you are voicing any and everything you want heard.
2. They give you a comfortable feeling when you see or interact with them. Some people have a way of lighting a room up just by speaking or just by their presence. This should be something that you experience when you meet with your doula. You want to walk away saying to yourself, I could talk/ be around her all day if I could.
3. They are able to solve the problems and questions you have. If you have issues with your postpartum care and your doula isn’t trying to get the answers for you, then she may not be much help for other postpartum tasks.
4. She just doesn’t seem compatible. There are doulas for everyone and they can be super sweet, knowledgeable, and helpful but if you just don’t feel almost 100% she’s the doula match for you, just keep looking.
