The icy pond behind my house has been my teacher this week.
Its stillness holds a quiet strength that mirrors the energy of Winter. In East Asian medicine, this season belongs to the Kidney system, our deepest reservoir of vitality. Like that frozen surface, we are meant to slow down, conserve warmth, and honor what’s happening beneath our own surface.
In stillness, restoration happens.
In cold, the body asks for gentleness.
If you’ve been feeling more tired, reflective, or craving warmth, you’re not doing anything wrong. You’re simply listening to seasonal wisdom.
Support your Kidney energy with rest, warm foods, and practices that nourish your core. I’ve been trying to do the same.
Sending warmth from my home and clinic here in Lexington, MA, honoring the season one quiet moment at a time ❄️🪷
