As we approach some of our veterinary internship application deadlines, we will be posting various program highlights. To kick it off, let's start with our internal medicine fellowships!
Hagyard Equine Medical Institute is the world’s largest and oldest equine hospital in the world, based in the horse capital of the world, Lexington, KY. In combination with the high concentration of horses, Hagyard presents an unparalleled training opportunity for motivated and enthusiastic veterinarians.
The internal medicine fellowship provides post-graduate veterinarians the opportunity to work at the McGee Medicine Center on Hagyard’s campus under the direct supervision of seven ACVIM board-certified internists. Fellows participate in day-to-day patient evaluation and care, as well as daily elective and emergency duties. This includes, but is not limited to, managing neonatal foals, broodmares with post-foaling complications, high risk pregnancies, pneumonia cases, renal and hepatic disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, neurological disorders, and more.
Fellows will also benefit from our Intern CE program, which boasts Practice Rounds, Lecture Series, Morbidity & Mortality Rounds, Theriogenology Rounds, and wet labs.
Programs Offered:
-Internal Medicine Fellowship (6-month, January – June)
