Meet Dr. Haider Abbas, who leads Lexington Clinic’s Rheumatology Department and oversees our newly expanded infusion center.

Dr. Abbas discovered his passion for rheumatology during his medical training. "I was struck by how profoundly rheumatic diseases affect every aspect of the patient’s life—not just joints but their independence, work, and at times, identity.”

He loves practicing rheumatology because it gives him the chance to form meaningful, long-term relationships with patients and work side-by-side with them on their care. “My approach is patient-centered and evidence-based. I believe in listening to my patients and their families carefully, educating them about their conditions and making shared decisions.”

Over the years he’s witnessed incredible changes in people with inflammatory conditions and joint diseases when they receive the right care. “With proper treatment, they can now live independently. These moments reinforced why thoughtful diagnosis, persistence and partnership matter so much in rheumatology.”

He reassures everyone: “Rheumatic diseases, though complex, are highly treatable when diagnosed early. New therapies have transformed outcomes.”

At the heart of his practice is building real trust and connection. “I value the trust patients place in me and the opportunity to care for individuals and families over many years.”

What brings Dr. Abbas the deepest satisfaction is watching his patients thrive. "Seeing patients celebrate small victories, like improved mobility, or reduced pain, often bring genuine joy...and reminds me why I chose this profession."

We’re fortunate to have Dr. Abbas caring for our rheumatology patients: someone who listens, partners with you, and genuinely celebrates every step forward you take.

We're seeing a rise in the number of flu cases, with some school districts switching to at-home learning for the rest of the week. Our pediatrician Dr. Katrina Hood spoke with WKYT about what you can do to keep your kids healthy:

Robertson County Schools will not hold in-person classes for the rest of the week due to a spike in student illnesses.

"Acknowledging [kids'] world view, it's just fun!"

Dr. Kristin Weeks says she chose pediatrics because there's nothing as special as working with children.

"The more I worked with kids, and how creative and resilient they are, it really captivated me."

She never rushes through appointments, instead patiently taking whatever amount of time families need for their healthcare. The extra time also allows her to connect with the children, who often bring stuffed animals or art they've made to appointments.

"It's really about helping them feel comfortable and that they can be themselves in the room."

For Dr. Weeks, pediatrics is about ensuring children are on a good path for life.
