El primer caso de Sarampión fue confirmado en Nebraska esta semana por el Departamento de Salud y Servicios Humanos de Nebraska (DHHS, por sus siglas en inglés).

Acerca del Sarampión:
El Sarampión es un virus altamente contagioso que se transmite a través del contacto directo con una persona infectada, a menudo a través de la tos o los estornudos.

Es importante reconocer los síntomas a tiempo y buscar atención médica adecuada para ayudar a prevenir una mayor propagación.

Síntomas comunes del Sarampión:
• Fiebre alta (puede superar los 104 °F)
• Tos
• Nariz que moquea
• Ojos rojos o llorosos
• Sarpullido (generalmente aparece de 3 a 5 días después del inicio de los síntomas)

Prevención:
La vacuna MMR (Sarampión, Paperas, Rubéola) es la mejor protección contra el Sarampión. Si bien la vacuna es altamente efectiva, aún pueden presentarse casos leves en personas vacunadas.

Si usted o un familiar presenta síntomas, llame a la clínica antes de venir. Esto ayuda a que se tomen las precauciones adecuadas.

The first case of Measles was confirmed in Nebraska this week by The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

About Measles:
Measles is a highly contagious virus spread through direct contact with an infected person, often through coughing or sneezing.

It is important to recognize the symptoms early and seek appropriate medical care to help prevent further spread.

Common Measles Symptoms:
• High fever (can spike above 104°F)
• Cough
• Runny nose
• Red or watery eyes
• Rash (typically appears 3–5 days after symptoms begin)

Prevention:
The MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella) is the best protection against measles. While the vaccine is highly effective, mild cases can still occur in vaccinated individuals.

If you or a family member shows symptoms, please call the clinic before arriving. This helps ensure proper precautions are taken.

Comenzará a atender pacientes en Plum Creek Medical Group a partir del 2 de junio.

Un poco sobre Julia Martínez, PA-C:
Julia creció en una granja en Guide Rock, Nebraska, y obtuvo su título de Asistente Médica en Union College en Lincoln, Nebraska. Ahora, está emocionada de vivir en Kearney, donde vive con su esposo y sus dos perros salchicha miniatura.
Julia está emocionada de formar parte de nuestro equipo en Plum Creek Medical Group, donde ayudará a cuidar de nuestra maravillosa comunidad. Tiene un interés especial en pediatría y salud femenina, aunque disfruta mucho atendiendo a pacientes de todas las edades y orígenes. La misión de Julia es brindar una atención compasiva y completa que garantice que cada paciente se sienta escuchado, apoyado y empoderado en su camino hacia la salud.

We’re thrilled to introduce our newest provider: Julia Martinez PA-C

She will begin seeing patients at Plum Creek Medical Group starting June 2nd.

A little about Julia Martinez PA-C:
Julia grew up on a farm in Guide Rock, Nebraska, and went on to earn her Physician Assistant degree from Union College in Lincoln, NE. Now, she’s excited to call Kearney home, where she lives with her husband and their two miniature dachshunds.
Julia is excited to be part of our team at Plum Creek Medical Group, where she will help care for our wonderful community. She has a special interest in pediatrics and women’s health, although she truly enjoys caring for patients of all ages and backgrounds. Julia’s mission is to provide compassionate, thorough care that ensures every patient feels heard, supported, and empowered on their health journey.
When she isn’t working, you might find her baking, staying active, planning her next travel adventure, or scuba diving.
Julia is excited to be a part of the community and looks forward to building strong, lasting relationships with her patients and their families.
